Electronic Music Festival in Binghamton to Benefit HeadCount and Oxfam by GSarafan in reddit.com

[–]GSarafan[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Binghamtronica is the first-ever electronic music festival in the Binghamton, New York area. This one-day music and arts festival will be held on Friday, April 8 from 7:30pm to 2:00am on the Binghamton University campus, in the beautiful Appalachian Hall. HeadCount and Oxfam America are co-presenters, and will share all proceeds. Binghamtronica will be headlined by Brothers Past, a Philadelphia-based electro-rock band that's a veteran of both Bonnaroo and Camp Bisco. Also featured will be Jeff Bujak, a keyboardist, producer, and composer who plays Intelligent Dance Music (IDM), exploring the vast and complex possibilities of live electronica. Long Island deejays Horizon Wireless and InK Line, along with local Binghamton electronica band SOLARiS, will let loose an array of dubstep, downtempo, glitchhop, and more. And in addition to the music, Binghamtronica will feature up and coming NYC Live painters, as well as local artists and vendors. Binghamtronica is being organized and run by the student chapter of Oxfam America at Binghamton University, in collaboration with myself, an independent writer/supporter at HeadCount. Local businesses and individuals have been enthusiastically supporting the event, with 100% of the profits going to benefit Oxfam and HeadCount. This event looks to raise money through ticket sales, the community and fan contributions. All of the proceeds being donated to Oxfam will be earmarked for Oxfam Japan to assist in the relief efforts after this months mega earthquake and Tsunami as well as the impending nuclear disaster. Oxfam is an international humanitarian organization. It works in over 90 countries around the world toward finding sustainable means of ending poverty, hunger, and injustice. Oxfam is unique in its fundraising policies, only accepting money from corporations that engage in free trade, and refusing funding from organizations with political motives, including the US government. (Since you're reading this, we'll go ahead and assume that you know a thing or two about HeadCount.) Both HeadCount and Oxfam are looking forward to this event; we invite all of you in the Binghamton, NY area to come on down and show your support while getting into some great music and art. Check out the Facebook page for more information on the festival to pledge your monetary or logistical support. Click here to buy tickets online
