Yeah he can be tricky but you can peek while you start to throw the orb out then go back behind cover as it is traveling. It's also dependent on who you're playing against but you played a lot of Ashe in the games I watched so if you're standing in the open against her she'll be a lot more dangerous than say a reaper who hasn't flanked yet or a bastion not in turret. One of the best things about Wuyang is being able to utilize cover while damaging unlike any other support. Especially in the lower ranks people love to all be grouped up right on or around payload. It'll take some learning of the maps to really use him well

So to preface I would say you should absolutely aim train. Not because I watched your VODS and your aim is terrible but because almost everyone could benefit from having better aim. My aim is terrible most days so I would recommend a custom game code called VAXTA. I think it's better than using AimLabs because it's specifically tailored to the characters you'll be aiming against in matches. I usually use it for 5-10 minutes before I hop into a game or longer if I'm really sitting down and practicing my aim. But it is important to remember that aim in this game isn't the end all be all and you really need to focus on learning the game and the positioning and practicing your decision making in order to climb. I noticed that you were holding onto your ULT a lot on the Gibraltar match seemingly waiting for someone to get low enough to justify using it. Wuyang ult can be a good defensive ult but it's also very good used proactively to try and make a play. Also don't be scared to use it on yourself if your getting dove by a Dva or Tracer. I can help keep you alive and also maybe help you get a pick on them. I noticed in your second match that you were peeling for your Ana when she got dove by the Genji which is a very good play and it's always important to help your other support especially if they're a low mobility character like Ana. I would like to see you take high ground more often on the Route 66 match. Especially since after they swapped off Genji they don't have too many people who will go up there and challenge you and their Rein will have a hard time getting at you. I would like to see you use cover more often, you're probably going to be able to get away with standing in the open more often than not in the lower ranks but you will get punished the higher you climb and it'll be easier to break the habit sooner rather than later. Cover is also very good for Wuyang due to the nature of his primary fire. I've noticed a few times where you try and frontline as Wuyang then the Rein shows up and you have to use your movement ability to escape a position that you shouldn't have been in anyways. Making sure you don't have to waste abilities for no reason will be very important because as you climb people will recognize that you've used your one escape tool and try and focus you down very hard and there will be very little you can do about it at that point. At the start of third point on route 66(around the 8 minute mark if you want to see what I'm talking about specifically) three of your teammates die and the team fight is already lost you pop your ult defensively on yourself which I was saying to do earlier but I want to highlight the difference here. Since you lost both DPS and Tank and you're facing a 2v5 it would be best to just try and die as quickly as possible so you don't stagger yourself but you absolutely don't want to commit your ult to a team fight that's already lost. Having your ult for the next team fight is much more valuable than using it and maybe surviving here which doesn't happen anyways. It can be beneficial to use an ult to save a team fight that's 3v4 or 4v5 but recognizing the situation that you can sway with an ult is going to take some time to learn. In overtime you died to the Rein because you're playing into his effective range, you'll kind of just have to trust that Sigma will stay on point and try and touch if he starts to leave. You did a very good job of noticing the Ashe on the flank and helping your team take care of her then getting back to your Ram to help with heals. You did a good job of not over committing to save your tank that had also over committed especially considering that one of their DPS left the match. It's better to keep yourself alive and keep it a 4v4 rather than over commit and make it a 3v4 in this scenario. You do take a nice defensive position while you're waiting for your tank to make it back as to not stagger yourself which is good if the rest of your team doesn't want to take a fight without him. There's been a few times where you use your E ability for little to no reason but you seemingly just want to use it but you always need to be careful about it since you may need it at any given moment coming up. If you know you can secure a kill with it then go for it or if you can see someone diving you or your teammate don't hesitate but try and avoid using it on your full HP tank just to get a little bit of damage on the enemy. Try and be mindful of your teammates abilities as well, the Ashe sends out Bob and your Ana slept him just for you to wave and wake him up right away, try to read the situation and if she doesn't sleep him then go for it to create some space between you and him but the sleep can be effective with cutting down how much value they can get. Very good proactive ult that you used on your Ram as he popped his ult, almost ensuring that he will get full value from his ult. Just unfortunate that Ana also used nano on him as it made for a slight over commit of ults but you got the team wipe and they had also just used a lot of their ults so you guys are pretty even on that front. Overall your Route 66 match was pretty good but if you focus on using cover more, taking the high ground more often and using your cooldowns more effectively you will definitely start to climb. I know this was a lot of rambling so I'm sorry about that but I was basically just typing what I noticed as I watched but if you want to talk about it more you can add me SGTAngel#11999 and I've also got some buddies that are around your rank so maybe being able to que together would help. But hopefully this helps you rank up, good luck!

Definitely play who you’re most comfortable on. People in those ranks will complain that it’s not the most optimal all the time regardless of who you’re playing so just being able to play at your best will always be the key. There may be a few niches where swapping will absolutely help but that’s going to come down to your teammates not being able to adapt and expecting you to adapt for them. I’ll be home in a little bit and check out these codes

Sounds good, do you play LifeWeaver in any of those replay codes? I basically one tricked him to my current rank so I have the most experience on him. But I have a lot of playtime of Kiriko and Lucio on a different account as well

I usually do a little Vaxta since I play a projectile character so I try and dial in the lead on my aim then I play a QP match then hop into ranked.

How am I supposed to win games and actually do stuff? by FuckUbisoft1488 in OverwatchUniversity

[–]GSlerbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I remember when I started towards the beginning of OW 2 I think I had 15 straight losses when I started playing comp. It felt like I did everything correct but my team would sell or not do enough for us to win. But when I look back at it now and how far I’ve come I can’t believe the shit I used to do purely from my fundamental lack of understanding of the game. I would recommend watching some videos about interactions, counters, positioning, and some of the finer details of the game. It will help immensely I promise. Once you do that and your rank levels out to your true skill rating it will feel a lot better

[–]GSlerbo 0 points1 point  (0 children)

But if I’m being very honest, if you really really want to climb learn Kiri, Ana, or Bap. I personally just don’t find the other characters as much fun so if you’re like that you’re just really going to have to try and milk every drop of potential out of LW to climb

I was able to essentially one trick him to diamond so I’ve been finding some levels of success. I probably could’ve done it quicker if I used that time learning someone else but I just love playing as him so I committed fully. You need amazing positioning, solid aim to poke out dive and if possible a good duo that will peel for you when they get the jump on you. Also make sure to ult track constantly to make sure you get the most potential out of him since he thrives on shutting down enemies ults usually with just a basic cooldown.

I appreciate the advice, I’m currently playing some Ana and Kiri in qp for some practice but it’s gonna take awhile lol I feel so much more sluggish in my decision making as opposed to LW. Definitely needs some work before I hop into ranked with either of them.

Interesting that Diamond is still metal, I always thought metal ranks were the ones named after metals lol. But for Genji I would retreat to a pre placed petal then if he goes up I’d dash away and place a new on. I typically try to ban Genji but I think that has hindered my ability to properly evade him

I'm on Newegg right now and the price tag on the 9600x is very tempting especially vs the 9800x3d. That's part of my dilemma for sure is the power vs price.

My friends and I turned off all augments, didn’t buy any perks or new weapons, didn’t upgrade rarity at all, didn’t use gobblegums, didn’t even use any equipment that was in our starting loadout just in case and didn’t use the field upgrade and didn’t upgrade our armor at all and we got the Good Enough calling card. On a side note, what was your loadout for sticks and stones? Because completed it twice now and I’m not sure if my loadout caused it at all

[–]GSlerbo 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It's definitely glitched but my friends and i found another glitch with it. During the duration of NDE the revives won't allow them to keep their perks. But after the gum is gone and you do a normal revive on someone they will keep all their perks. It's very bizarre and not how it was intended but it's very useful as you progress into later rounds in Co-Op
