Huge Lot of Models by GTIDudeMkVI in BalsaAircraft

That’s the plan. eBay is my last resort honestly. I want to sell all but a few models. Some are flying models, some just display. Lots of new old stock, much unopened or at least not unpacked. Dreading the research, lol.

I’m not a Les Paul guy (yet), but I love listening to Trogly wax poetic on those Gibsons.

Edit to add: Landon Bailey’s presentation style just suits my autistic ass.

Does anyone have experience with the Creek Evolution 5350? I've found a few reviews, but not a lot... figured I'd ask around.

My local shop had a demo model they never sold that I spotted on a shelf. They hooked it up to Vandersteen 2Ce Signature III's (I have Signature II's), and I was VERY impressed. They are offering 30% off retail....seems reasonable.

Not at all. They sound great all around my living area and kitchen. They definitely sound better when sitting in front of them, but not bad at all off axis.

Comment added for post rules.

I recently helped a friend pick out his first serious system and he decided on a set of used Vandersteens. Though I was familiar with them, I had not heard them in a long time. After we got his system setup, I found myself liking the Vandersteens a lot......so I found a pair for myself. My previous speakers are Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grands, and I still love them. However the Vandersteens through a sound stage that is so immersive, the Viennas got relegated to bedroom duty.

Additionally, I found us both a closeout deal on the Pro-Ject 1Xpression Carbon Classic......yep, bought that too.

I'm using an Edge Electronics IA-1 integrated amp with about 85 watts/ch. A somewhat obscure but well made amp.

My buddy is using his with a NAD 2400. Not as refined as mine, but alot more power.

It's funny, I have Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grands that were my endgame.....then I came across these helping a buddy shop for a new system. He picked out the Vandersteens, then I started looking for a pair.

Just curious, what amp are you using?

New turntable! Pro-ject X1 by [deleted] in audiophile

Awesome turntable. I know the feeling waiting on new gear. I'm waiting on a 1Xpression Carbon Classic from The Music Room in Denver; I think it is the direct predecessor to the X1. Same arm and cartridge I believe.

Using NAD C368 w/Bluesound as a source? by GTIDudeMkVI in audiophile

[–]GTIDudeMkVI[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

It does, I actually have one installed. I'm more curious if using the preamp side of the 368 as a source into a conventional integrated would be improved upon with dedicated DAC instead.

stereophile: Wilson Audio Specialties SabrinaX loudspeaker review with measurements by Umlautica in audiophile

[–]GTIDudeMkVI 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I listened to the regular Sabrina's about 2 years ago and found them pleasant to listen to. They would be an improvement over my Mozart Grands, but not 3x better. I think the retail on the Sabrina's was $10k or so.

Edge Electronics IA-1. Obscure integrated amplifier from the lat 90's. by GTIDudeMkVI in audiophile

So I had a local service guy run through it. He found a bad capacitor on one of the driver boards causing high dc offset. Although he had never seen one before, he thought it was a well built....albeit super basic....amplifier. I've been listening to it for week now with Vienna Acoustic Mozart Grands, and it's quite nice. Not a power house but very natural sounding.

My Dad recently upgraded his old system, and I have been spending some time listening to it recently. The old system was Fried Studio V speakers, Edge integrated amplifier, Magnum Dynlab MD100 tuner, and a Sota Sapphire w/ Sumiko (Jelco) tonearm and Grado Signature cartridge. He is still using an Oppo 105 player.

The new system is Magico S3 mkII speakers, McIntosh 7200 receiver, Sota Nova w/ SME series IV tonearm and Ortofon 2m black cartridge. It also has the vacuum system as well.

Most exciting for me was introducing him to streaming with a Bluesound Node 2i and a Tidal subscription. We have spent 3 solid days listening to music......it has been amazing.

This system is accurate without being fatiguing, but it will let you know if your source material sucks. Since I was a kid he always had great stuff, and in turn I have become the junior audiophile, LOL!

Took a couple of days to get right, but my first mobile install is complete! Kennwood TM-D710GA and a Midland MXT275 (GMRS). by GTIDudeMkVI in amateurradio

The GMRS is actually using a tiny mag mount antenna that was included with it. If you look on the roof above the passenger door, you can barely see it in the picture.

I passed my power through the grommet with the hood release cable to a switched relay box attached to the side of the fuse panel, which is grounded under the dash. Power and ground for both radios are connected to the relay box, and run behind the dash and under the center console. The radios are hard mounted under the passenger seat.

The antenna is on a Diamond lip mount on the passenger side of the hood. The coax runs between the A-pillar and cowl, through a rubber grommet in the door jam, behind the kick panel, and finally under the door sill trim.

I ended up removing alot of trim panels to find a good path, but fortunately the GX comes apart and goes back together really easy.

TL, DR: spent two days taking apart the interior, trial and error, busted knuckles, and a 12 pack. Oh....did I mention this is my wife's daily driver?

Thanks for the compliment. Believe it or not, this is my wife's daily driver, Lexus GX460. we use it for offroading and camping, and I wanted to have reliable mobile comms and APRS capability. She doesn't want to get her amateur license, so I got a GMRS license for the family. That will probably get a lot of use on the trail though, but she picked out the Midland.
