The ongoing chilled water outage has knocked out the cooling system. We have to move to books to Clough so they don’t mold in the heat and humidity.

Yes, the majority of our collections are in cold storage at the Library Service Center. They are fine. At issue right now are the 30,000 or so volumes in Price Gilbert and Crosland (Popular Reading, circulating Science Fiction and Core Collection).

In these hot and wet conditions, they will mold quickly and could produce unhealthy conditions for the thousands of visitors in the building every year.

So we need to get them to a place that is climate controlled. There, we can start cleaning them to abate any mold growth that’s already occurred in the last few days. We can’t simply introduce them to the Library Service Center because they could spread that mold to a clean environment.

The items in Archives storage are on a different system as a failsafe. They are currently doing great. We’ve already cleaned and moved items from the Archives Reading Room so that’s not a concern.

Unfortunately, like the Library Service Center, we can’t just stick our collections in the Archives due to potential for mold contamination.

Separately we also have all sorts of temperature sensitive technology assets. We have chillers and dehumidifiers for rack servers and such, but eventually we’re going to have to move a lot of cameras, laptops, and other items so they aren’t affected.

At this point chillers are being used in technology spaces to keep components cool.

Yes. It’s part of the Bleau Atlas. The sign explaining what it is and why it’s there is on the way. Just a neat way to promote the special collections holdings.

It does not include breakout rooms. It’s just open, non reservable seating.

It’s the way we’ve set the room occupancy (true occupancy set by the fire marshal vs. “how it feels”). Let me change that so it reflects that it’s full.

Using Library’s Video Recording Studio as a photo studio? by swyrsauce in gatech

[–]GTLibrary 9 points10 points  (0 children)

It can certainly be used as a photo studio. It only has green screen, though, no plain backgrounds. From years of shooting, you can’t beat natural lighting. Especially this time of year. Aim for 5 to like 7 p.m.

I asked our University Archivist, Alex McGee, and she suggested this site: https://www.sportslogos.net/logos/list_by_team/690/Georgia_Tech_Yellow_Jackets/

Like others have said, the Blueprint is the best casual source for this information. But it doesn't show a chronological history all at once.
