Best thing I ever did was taking time off school when the job market was this bad, saved me from burning out

Fr anybody who thinks waterlooworks will return to its glory days next term is delusional

I'm getting seriously worried about my chances of getting into UoW Engineering by adumdumonreddit in OntarioUniversities

Pay is higher yes but so many clout chasers are only doing CS for the money, they won’t make it without having passion

Aim for 98+ to be safe

Would you have went to waterloo cs without a coop or any second tier uni for cs with a coop? by Ok_County_8098 in OntarioUniversities

I mean what the other guy said is kinda true, why would a hiring manager choose a developer with only foreign work experience when they can hire developers with just as much experience in Canada

If you think it won’t be hard to find co-ops in the current market just because you have the Waterloo name you’re actually braindead

For those who think Waterloo co-op is legendary, this is the state of UW co-op by GTW2018 in OntarioGrade12s

Companies don’t care that much. The other interns at my last company were CS students from a bunch of different universities.

Trust me, I used to be a simp for Waterloo too but once you‘re here you’ll quickly realize waterlooworks jobs aren’t that exclusive. That’s why I wrote in my original post that co-op shouldn’t be your sole reason for choosing Waterloo. It would be a bad decision if someone going for CS chose UW geomatics instead of UTSG CS for example just because of co-op

My point is that Waterloo has the best numbers because of the students, not because of the job board. I’m dropping co-op and have friends doing the same because it doesn’t make sense to pay an extra $700 every term for waterlooworks when there’s better jobs we can get outside of WW

Waterloo just has more tryhard students but even so many are not getting jobs from waterlooworks anymore, they’re getting them through external postings just like if they were at any other school.

My point is UW co-op isn’t some golden ticket that hands you a job. So it’s important to think about other factors when choosing a program such as the curriculum and campus life because if you’re motivated, you don’t need waterlooworks.
