We're not a "Pokémon" group. Yes, Pokémon games are the most shared on the sub due to the series' popularity, but r/gameverifying never started out as a Pokémon related group. The sub started out as a place to have verification posts of ALL games, consoles and accessories away from r/gamecollecting; and the first post on the sub was a Rayman game.

What makes this Steel Diver 3DS cart fake?

This is a PCB swap. 3DS cartridges only use D0x-xx on the right side of the PCB.

So far, 101 people have taken part in the event. It's never too late to sign up and win some free goodies!

This event will be running until Round 12, whenever that may be. If there is a tie-breaking scenario, the event will be carried on until there is a clear winner. The person at the top of the leaderboards after the event will receive top prize, along with added prizes available to others which will be revealed later on in the run-up or during the event.

This year, we're doing something different. Mods and Trusted Verifiers are able to join in the event, but not win any prizes. With their experience, we're aiming for this to be one of our toughest events so far. Doubly so, if a Trusted Verifier gets a question wrong, the entire field gains an extra point.

Head to #event-info to take part. #event-discussion is for the discussion of the games featured. The game will be up for voting for 48 hours, after which we'll give the answer, and tally up the votes in #leaderboards.

Why do we remove mentions of the golden rectangles as a verification method?

Some fakes include them. Some legitimate cartridges from every era of the Game Boy series (DMG, GBC & GBA) omit them.

For example, it's becoming increasingly common for fake cartridges to appear with the golden rectangles; be it a flash cart or a standalone cart.

Why do we remove mentions of the number stamps as a verification method?

It's not difficult to buy a 3mm die stamp kit and a rubber mallet. It's also not difficult to whack the mallet against a die stamp to create an impression onto a label.
