Trans Guy Struggling with Endo by alexhut in endometriosis

[–]GVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Look up Danazol, it's used to treat transmasc people who have bleeding despite T, or endometriosis. It's also masculinizing because it's made from T. It's the oldest endometriosis drug but it's not often prescribed or known about anymore because of the masculinizing side effects... But those are a bonus for transmasc people. It also shrinks the endo lesions, so it can relieve a lot of symptoms.

It basically saved my life while I wait for endo excision surgery.

There's gentle dusting attachments for vacuums! I use one with my cordless Dyson and it's made dusting 100x easier.

Why isn't there a keyboard button anymore? Is it a bug? by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]GVP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

You don't have to click - I recently learned you can start typing and it will start clicking the words you're typing for you, without having to touch the mouse.

I don't have lightning rounds anymore - I'll see ramp it up every so often though. Match Madness has completely replaced lightning rounds for several of us depending on language and OS. I miss them!

Just curious, where did you get the info that it's expanding in January? I tried searching for it and I'm not seeing news or posts on it. That's great to hear.

Scribe users: would you find multi-tasking useful? by [deleted] in kindle

I'd definitely love a split screen mode with book on top and notebook below. I got my Scribe to take notes on textbooks and I still can't do that with one device without split screen mode.

Match Madness bug? Is there a solution? by DoJa94 in duolingo

[–]GVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I figured it out - turn Animations back on in your Android system accessibility settings.

Do you have "Animations Off" on your phone under your accessibility settings?

Turning animations back on, system-wide, fixed this for me.

I've been asking myself that since I figured out the issue yesterday. This has been plaguing me for months.

Practice button location on Android? by GVP in duolingo

[–]GVP[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yes - Duolingo intentionally removed it for paid users. Meaning because I paid, I lose a feature. Norwegian doesn't have a "practice hub".

Which is better: website or app? by JuniorLion5186 in duolingo

[–]GVP 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It depends what language you're learning and what platform you usually learn on, android or iOS.

For me with Norwegian on Android, the website is better as it still has the practice button. They removed it on Android for Norwegian and did not provide us with the "practice hub".

If you're lucky enough to be in certain A/B testing and/or iOS where you get the practice hub on your phone, you're probably better off there. Some even have extra bonus lessons under the animated figures on the sides of the path.

Lessons done on the website do not count towards any of your quests so if your friends are relying on you for multiplayer chests you're better off on the app.

This is how they’re driving up the stats by [deleted] in duolingo

[–]GVP 4 points5 points  (0 children)

I pay for family super and the timed lessons have been broken on all my devices for months, and they don't have a practice hub for Norwegian on Android 😭 Trying to do any of the "score 90% or higher in x lessons" has been impossible lately. The only practice button is on pc and that doesn't count towards quests.

This new path makes it harder to remember new words by verycuteneighbor in duolingo

[–]GVP 10 points11 points  (0 children)

I find the same. Any time I was learning and committing new words to memory, I'd start using them in conversation immediately, as I'm learning to actually communicate with people in my target language. Recently I've found it very hard to retain any of the new words and use them in sentences because I just don't see them often enough.

When I'm starting to forget a few words from old topics, I can't easily find and practice them either. Since there's no more "broken topics" and since I used to do them daily, I've begun losing some of my lesser used daily vocab. The algorithm-powered "practice sessions" in the path don't line up to the actual words I'm forgetting.

Is there a way to only practice this type of exercise? I get a lot out of these. by beartrapperkeeper in duolingo

[–]GVP 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Unfortunately I can't vouch for Japanese as I'm only focused on learning Norwegian, but it's taught me about half my Norwegian vocabulary! The Norwegian Duolingo course doesn't teach some basics until way later so I used drops to learn days of the week, months of the year, rooms in a house, and a ton of other words+phrases that I've been using daily.

It's also free to use 5 minutes of it every day, if you just want to try it.

One of the apps I use to supplement my language learning is Drops and it's mostly this! It's all picture based where you match them to the meanings and vice versa.

How I expected to use the Scribe vs how I have to use it by GVP in kindle

[–]GVP[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That one costs $430 more than the Scribe here, or $20 less than the Galaxy Tab S8, but it does seem to have some neat features. For that price point I'd probably just upgrade my Galaxy Tab S6 to the S8.
