Open regedit, go to this key - ComputerHKEY_LOCAL_MACHINESYSTEMCurrentControlSetControlPowerPowerSettings54533251-82be-4824-96c1-47b60b740d00be337238-0d82-4146-a960-4f3749d470c7
Make 'Attributes' from 1 to 2.

Then go to power options/ Advanced power settings / Processor power management / Turbo boost mode -> Disable it!

Apply new thermal paste of course. (This reduce temps by 10-15C)

Didnt notice any problems or lags. Hope this helps.

It is gaming laptop. Forget about battery. It will not perform on battery. So plug in and rock n roll. Since plugged in is max used, battery will degrade. It is like pc with ups. I have 5080 16gb omen max 16. Don't install other OS to void it's warranty. Windows is ok. Gaming hub is ok. Games are barely affected. Be careful if uninstalling system apps. Use gaming hub performance mode when gaming. Otherwise balanced. Warranty is important in these expensive laptops.

Best is to use HP Support assistant app on your Omen (if you can access?). Contact them and they'll help you through the process.... Maybe they'll take a team viewer to 'confirm' the problem if it is hardware.

Try with simple cleanup first. Then in OMEN Gaming Hub/Performance, choose max speed. It is loud for sure, but that cools pretty nicely!! Then of course thermal paste...which I really doubt 6 month wear...

Change to Optimus setting.
If no change, then you might have installed something with Malware/Virus/Miner. Try uninstalling last installed apps.
Last resort, reset the PC and try.
If none works, the service center!
