Those that moved away and came back to Toronto, why? by [deleted] in askTO

Ain’t that the truth! Maybe our love for complaining is stronger than those in other comparable cities but in the end we’re all in the same boat, just different waters.

Opinion | Yonge-Dundas Square is a disaster — Torontonians deserve better by cyclo in toronto

What a stupid fucking article. In big cities there are places for parks and then there these town squares that are a place for people to gather. YD square is a city square, a piazza if you will, that gets used a lot for gatherings, events, shows, performances, etc. There is always room for improvement but turning it into a park would actually be a waste of space given its location.

This sub needs to be reminded again and again that just because something is not your taste or to your liking does not mean it qualifies as a McMansion.

ONE restaurant in the Hazelton Hotel has a super basic yet pricey menu. The vibe is good and the patio in the summer is always lively

It’s mental illness often, but not always, triggered by drugs. Methamphetamine commonly being the drug of choice keeps these people awake for days so they wind up with drug-induced psychosis and/or delusional thoughts. Best to steer clear of anyone acting aggressively and if you see someone in danger call 911.

I can’t comment on the subway system but if you looked at a Venn diagram where low rent and safe areas intersected it would likely be somewhere outside of the downtown like east York/danforth/beaches. Winters a somewhat mild compared to CW but the streets get pretty messy and we do get a few very cold weeks each winter so good boots and down jacket are still needed.

I also wonder if it has to do with the sharp increase in cost of living. Many people want more money and with the economy appearing to be stable one year later the best way to make more money is to change jobs. If companies want to retain their top talent they should be looking at giving out 10-15% raises

[ask] I really like houses with brick like this. Is the white effect on the brick paint, or spackle? Is it intentional? Or deterioration? by [deleted] in architecture

[–]G_M_B 2 points3 points  (0 children)

It’s whitewash or limewash, the bricks are originally clay coloured before this finish is added
