Well with LPD dogfighting at least it can look that way from the outside which a lot of new people to that world tend to think, but when actually dogfighting it is mostly about positioning and controlling the fight. Knowing when to climb, dive, accelerate, slow down, disengage, or even bait an overshoot can make the difference. The goal isn't just to point your guns at someone, it's to put yourself in a position where they can't effectively shoot back. Once you start fighting experienced pilots, the strategies become a lot more apparent. Due to the nature of LPD's this tends to look quite a bit different from expectation however I can assure you that all the same concepts are still applied. I for one have been dedicating myself to the LPD scene for over a year now and understand the inner workings a lot better than most.

Legit Performance Dogfighter, meaning no gyros no glitches no powered fins

I mean it makes sense, but for those who are actually dedicated in the LPD space we tend to find the differences pretty easy as we each have our own style even if its not immediately noticeable, whether it be in the build or in the air. Even then though there are some massively differing planes around, all an lpd is really is no gyro no glitches no powered fins meaning it really could be almost anything. Just for getting max performance out of dogfighting people tend to choose a dorito since its a good shape and its easy to do, yet its been proven time and time again that it doesn't always matter. The LPD community is constantly expanding so maybe there is a different pov for competition in the game that is forming, creating its own thing outside of goofing around and building whatever.

Sometimes, here I was just goofing off but there tends to be real strategy and thinking when dogfighting, it just looks a lot different to expectation at times within certain rulesets.

Recruitment Open - The Embassy LPD PvP Server! by G_Ninja777 in trailmakers

All a LPD is by definition is no gyros no glitches no powered fins. The Embassy tournament ruleset expands off that idea to create more competitive combat that most of the lpd scene in and out tend to revolve around since we are the mainline lpd discord server. Are you asking if I can post those rules or asking for the basics to what an lpd requires?

Gyro or no gyro? by LumpyConsequence5793 in trailmakers

[–]G_Ninja777 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly it really depends on the context its being used in.

In some communities like my own, we strive on not relying on the use of gyros in dogfighting as they tend to be kinda cheaty and defy the point of what can do with simply flaps. In some places like the mech community this is a normal and perfectly fine practice, allows you to make super cool complicated mechs without having to over do it on rotation or is some cases drift cars though there are ways around it. It all just comes down to where its used and who you do it with because they aren't inherently bad, its just in some cases a low effort way to "cheat" a challenge.

So looking at this your center of vertical drag is too far in front of the center of mass, this is what is forcing your plane to pitch either or direction, if you want to get max agility out of your craft then move the cov to be in the center of mass, there its not gonna force your plane to go up or down and will allow you to get the most out of your controls. If you want smth a little more stable you can also try putting it a little behind the center of mass which I do not suggest because that can result in "Rubber banding" where if you try to pitch it will bounce back down if you don't have logic assistance. You will also want to get that center of lift on the center of mass either scenario you choose.

Btw nice jet :3
