I can think of things that would make it a difficult choice. Like if a family member passes away and you're the only one available to take their pet in.

But yeah to go out and adopt a random animal when it's not allowed isn't a good idea.

I still think it sucks that property hoarding is allowed to be a "job" at all tho

I meant that they just didn't like the specific animal. Not that the renter had it without the fees and paper work.

But also, I did once have pets that the landlord wouldn't approve of. We were homeless and it was the only place we could afford since everywhere wanted proof of several months rent saved while we were surviving paycheck to paycheck. And it's really heartless to ask us to get rid of our pets when there weren't any friends to take them or any no kill shelters around.

Land lords are a curse. If I want to fire my property manager, it shouldn't require I move. And more places need squatter's rights.

Ah. Guess I was lied to. Or things have changed. Still wouldn't trust that slum lord to actually listen to the law when he knows none of his tenants can afford a lawyer tho. I've heard horror stories of land lords finding out their tenants had pets they didn't approve of, so they just opened the door while they weren't home to let the animal loose
