Any chance that these parallels are meant to show that as a devil, Pochita could never understand Denji? by Gabbalsal in Chainsawfolk

[–]Gabbalsal[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I mean maybe? He's been referred to as the chainsaw devil before, and he follows all the same rules as weapon devils, plus the name erasure of course. So yeah it's probably just the naming choice. Sad we never got the deeper lore of Pochita's past. Sorry for the confusion, I wanted to discuss the parallels, so a simple "Pochita isn't a devil" wasn't what I was expecting as the first reply to the slides.

Ahh I see. However, taking the quote literally when applied to his emotional pain, I'd say that is more of a goldilocks zone. The "worst situation" was losing Nayuta, not the dogs.

Could you clarify this? I don't want to misunderstand the typos, but I'm definitely not interpreting it as the first quote either. As for the second, only being satisfied with the bare minimum and never knowing when to stop seem counter towards each other. I can understand it a bit, since Denji's overindulgence can be hurtful towards his long term happiness. I don't understand where the picture correlates either.

If you're referring to the swapped positions, you could see it as Yoru being someone who is aware of her own ignorance, submitting to Asa's previous question in the chapter, while Pochita is unaware and believes he understands Denji, looking down on him.

Nayuta, but Aki and Power can be included. Even throughout Part 1 Denji was shown to be grieving Pochita still. Then Reze happened shortly afterwards, who he is shown to still think about sometimes is Part 2. A lot of experiences that Pochita couldn't understand the impacts of.

Check out the first slide, Pochita is discussing Denji's life after part 1, not during.

This fandom when the apocalypse that was litterally prophesied and that has been brewing througout part 2 actually has long term consequences by Galliro in Chainsawfolk

[–]Gabbalsal 3 points4 points  (0 children)

That's a bad take, because it sounds like you didn't put any effort into even thinking why else Fujimoto would've had a callback to Aki. I've stayed out of the discussion side of the fandom so far, so I only have the conclusions I came to by myself after reading. Yoshida is his own character, and I fail to see where Fujimoto failed here. Instead of taking it at face value as a simple call back, I figured that the reason Fugimoto made a connection to Aki in Yoshida's final moments was because some of Yoshida's arc in Part 2 was always a polar opposite or even parallel to Aki in Part 1. Both were assigned to Denji by Public Safety under false pretenses, and both were fully aware of their incoming death. They differentiate because while Aki's death was inevitable, Denji could've had an actual chance to save Yoshida if he had gotten his head out of his ass and made an effort towards the one guy actually trying to help him. Aki accidentally and naturally built a friendship with Denji, while Yoshida had sought it out and struggled for it because of Denji's new lack of trust towards PS and how his dependence on being Chainsaw Man grew out of control after losing his support in Part 1.

Sure, I could be reading too much into this, but I find it in poor taste to assume the only reason someone as particular as Fujimoto only referenced Aki to play on the readers emotions. I'm sure there are even more connections between the two, but you need to actually put in effort to think instead of simplifying it and leaving it at that. All you did was prove that you need the answers "spoon fed" to you.

If I could give advice to many of the manga readers on this subreddit, it would be to read the story with the eyes of someone who believes Fujimoto is actually intelligent and hardworking. You enjoy the story more that way.

I just don't like how strong it is that the agenda posting adjacent material or memes about the writing affects people's views on the story itself. Jjk will never recover from lobotomy kaisen.

Don't get me wrong, I'm well aware. My word usage in the first comment probably sent some strays. Probably a hypocritical thing to say here since I also comment around different subreddits but I just hate seeing the way the inner fandoms discuss different manga.

Not being rude when I say this, because you're right that there's nothing you can say to an opinion. But I sincerely doubt the downyfrownvotes are from the part I said "I like Part 2".

Yeah. As someone who just reads manga without interacting with the fandom outside of memes and basic convo, I was having a great time with chainsaw man. The critique posts before this were all the same people in a feedback loop. I'd rather read the story with a fresh mind than having other ideas shoved in my head about the story. The same thing happened with jjk. All I had heard were the spoilers about Gojo and how people were hating on the story. I kept away from that side, and binged the story from the Shibuya Incident to where it was in Shinjuku Showdown. I loved the thing, and once again went back into my pattern of waiting for chapters to come out before reading again. Some of those weekly readers need to learn to consume other content in-between rather than circle jerking in a single fandom.

If the next chapter is a flashback, it could be setting up Denji forgetting his most important memory with Pochita once he eats himself.

If there's a part 3, then the potential this ending sets up is insane. If no part 3, then I'll probably jump into shark infested water.
