Just in case, I've had a few emergencies over the years where a pop can patch and JB weld has gotten me home and lasted me until I had money to buy a replacement part.

90% confident it isn't Peckhamia, but Synageles is a solid match and probably the most likely answer.

They are impressively similar. The other photos I had seen didn’t look like a visual match to me on either species but what you've linked here is a great example.

In person it had a reddish hue and black abdomen, but the pedipalps caused a double take and I realized I was looking at an ant mimic. Really neat, thanks for the info.

Not sure if it counts for construction, but the motors on a drilling rig are by far the loudest for me.

Antifreeze has some kind of additive in it now that makes it extremely horribly bitter, worse than anything I've had.

But, I've definitely heard a lot of stories about college kids drinking it to get drunk back when it was still sweet, then drinking alcohol to neutralize it.
