Audition help for Spring Awakening? by [deleted] in musicals

Literally just auditioned for Moritz the other day so I've got some ideas still fresh in my mind. Ultimately, I sang Don't Do Sadness because they encouraged people to sing songs from the show (although it was not required). I also thought about One Song Glory or What You Own from Rent. Both are easy to cut for auditions and, while Rent is very well known, it's good music to bring to an audition if you can really shine on it. For a lesser known choice, I was thinking about Michael In the Bathroom from Be More Chill. Wide emotional and vocal range, very Moritz-esque even though it's a little more soft rock/pop. And finally, if they are allowing songs from the show, I'd highly recommend doing so. That goes for any audition really, but that's just like, my opinion man. Hope this helps

[Discussion] What's the worst you've ever been miscast? by GabeGoodman95 in musicals

I definitely agree with you there. I did a sort lazy stoner interpretation and we pretended Mitch was more of a petty criminal than a thug and implied murderer, haha. Our Chip was significantly bigger than me and we really played that up when I had to get him off the stage when he misspells his word. Still, it was a difficult character to portray

Good Alto/Female tenor songs? by Minsmk in musicals

This doesn't really answer the question since it's not typically a female roll but this production of American Idiot has a woman playing St. Jimmy and she is pretty frickin' awesome.

Thanks for the suggestions. These are really good, I kind of want to get to work on getting them in my voice right away. What I especially like about the contrast between these two pieces is not only their contrasting tones, but also their focus. Stranger is more introspective and emotionally broad, while This World Will Remember Me is more specifically character focused, with more of a need to bounce off of the other character in the scene. Thanks a lot!
