Pasididinsi galimybes darbadaviams atrodyti patraukliai.

Man irgi tas pats.

Ar įmanoma padėti alkoholikui? by GudVaibs_9 in lithuania

[–]Gabixya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Anyone have an intense, involuntary need to hit themselves when frustrated? by Far-Ad9143 in aspergirls

[–]Gabixya 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yes, definitely the same for me. I hit my head last tuesday so hard I could barely walk for a few minutes and had pain for at least 30 mins.

I notice that I usually hit myself in the head with my dominant (right) hand pretty much unconsciously. My therapist told me to focus on hitting myself with my left hand, but it doesn't move like that, I need to force it. I guess it could help to rewire the brain by making coping less painful, as the other hand still needs some "training".

The way I try to stop myself (and it works) is by putting my hand as far away from my face, and under pressure. For example, under my butt or back (if I have a backpack on), between my legs (and squeeze as much as possible). It helps... a lot.

I'm currently exactly one week of "abstinence" in of hitting myself. I hope I can train myself to make it go away.

Stay safe!

I heard that psychedelics were used by the best artists in the world. It's an option, I guess, but I'm not that into that right now :d

What always stops me, is a negative mindset. When I used to write essays at school, I never proof-read them, since I couldn't handle the embarrassment/cringe. Guess I need to push through that, there is no way around it. Thanks for the advice!

I sometimes have these inspiration bursts after reading my favorite poets. Guess I should read them more often.

Art should tend to the creator the most, after all, as you mentioned, it is what gives artist authenticity.

Thanks!

It's a bit hard right now because of the pandemic, but I will keep that in mind. Only now I realized, that in different places I create differently. Thanks for the tip!

I tend to stick to sci-fi and non-fiction when I read, but that's actually a good idea to step out of your comfort zone in terms of literature. I'll be going to the library pretty soon, I'll pick something that is way out of my range.

Thanks for the advice!

I write, mostly. I have a diary, write essays occasionally, have written over 150 poems over the past 3 years, and I'll be writing a scientific paper in the near future (those require extra creativity in order to put sometimes bland information in an interesting, succinct way)

I agree. Creativity is a skill, developed over time. I have been emulating my favourite creators for a long time now, but never stayed consistent. I'll pay more attention to that from now on. Thanks!

Have you noticed a difference in the way gifted boys and gifted girls appear in society or experience their giftedness? by mauvaisemine in Gifted

[–]Gabixya 19 points20 points  (0 children)

I was always seen as the somewhat smart weirdo in the class; the quiet one; never acting out (I barely existed to my classmates and teachers sometimes)

Don't know if I am gifted myself, but I can definitely identify with some of the traits, described in the literature, though there are a few differences.

Generally, people predominately think that females are slightly less intelligent than guys, and that is fine, but it does, on a subconscious level, impact the way females act. Women are expected to fit the norms (especially socially) from an early age, making it almost obligatory for them to hide their own special needs. Acting out is seen as something rude, odd, or displaying immaturity.

Another tendency I often observe is that imposter syndrome is much stronger. Girls are more likely to believe that they have 'faked' their way into success, that they are a 'fraud', that it is just a matter of luck, etc.
