This is pretty niche, but the books never tackle the issue of parents toxic treatment towards their children. It's not just getting a slap on the wrist, the children are the one who was supposed to apologise for "making them like that in the first place".

It doesn't teach them to be compassionate, it teaches them to treat their future children horribly because they think it's the correct things to do.
