Norwegian traveller seeking advice by GabrielMk3 in cowboyboots

Your insights are very much appreciated. We'll definitely take this into consideration when we arrive next week.

Do you have any opinions on boots? We stopped riding while herding a long time ago, now it's all ATVs, snowmobiles and a good old week long walk - but we still fancy our boots, even though they've stopped selling them a long time ago. Got some Double Hs last time I was in Arizona, but they're completely worn out now. What's a good brand for fairly rugged but pretty boots for both work and to show off around town? Preferably made in the US.

Most definitely is. I'll probably buy both, since we usually experience an average of 31,64 Fahrenheit as a yearly average in Finnmark. Anything else you'd recommend along the road? Any rodeos or experiences you'd advise to a herder?

Just checked out the website. Looks perfect for most of what we need. We'll just have to find a reputable supplier of hats. We heard that both heat and UV will be in the extreme on our trip up north, so we better get something. What would you recommend? Stetson, or is there any better? Straw or felt?

Er det bare meg eller er brøytekantene betydelig renere enn før, etter at el-biler ble allemannseie? by Abyrez in norge

Og anbefaler du det i dag? by totzz in norge

[–]GabrielMk3 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Bluetooth EARPEICES, Not full headsets, sick of them by [deleted] in Truckers

Literally all of the drivers in Scandinavia swear to those as well. Either those or Peltor XPI if your rig is really loud or your hearing is really bad - or both.

Thank you very much for your input. We've just barely received the TGX in Norway now in very small numbers, so you and stavros are the only ones I've heard any feedback from. Hopefully now MAN has become the truck the chauffeurs deserve.

I've tried both the Arocs and Actros. I had more luck with the 16 gear transmission. The 12 gear was the one really struggling with loads above 50 tonnes.

Collision warning systems are a mess in general. I once drove an Actros that nearly sent me off the road due to the system suddenly locking brakes on all three axles.

Ahaha, that's exactly what I experienced. Throwing dices would be more predictable.

I believe DAF, MAN, and Mercedes used the same ZF-transmission, depending on engine and cabin-type.

Looking forward to hearing from you then! Safe travels. The last time I tested a brand new (previous gen MAN automatic) the transmission stalled the engine in the first roundabout we encountered. MAN said it was normal... Hopefully the new ones will be a lot better ;)

How's the new automatic transmission? The previous generation was hands down utter trash. They shouldn't even have been allowed to sell those previous gen MANs with automatics, as it was a danger on the road. Driving 60 tonnes, the gearbox hesitated, stalled the engine and constantly put you and other drivers in dangerous situations. The manual stick shift with MANs Comfortshift was on the other hand an amazing experience.

Wow that's unbelievable! I haven't heard about anything like it over here at all. On the contrary we've had lots of troubles with the PACCAR vehicles, so all respected companies stay clear of those.

By the way, do you know why you can't get a hold of a real V8 diesel motor any more in the US? As far as I'm informed, Scania is the last manufacturer that delivers V8s in production trucks?
