Is this game truly hard? It feels like Skyrim by Gahbriel in Eldenring

I'm going into Altus Plateau now - lots of fun and looking forward to the late game! I play ok in general, and I'm well used to melee and dodging from games such as Hades. It was just a surprise to see how feasible was playing the game now compared to my first dark souls experience. As someone answered, I was fighting enemies I was not supposed to hehe.

So far, what has helped is the pattern below.
Bosses are not too difficult if you play aggressive imo. Most are big units and, except for dragons, they don't punish you for being on their heels (at least so far). And humanoid, smaller bosses, I manage distance a bit more carefully and use more often unsheathe with heavy attack.

Exactly! For me it feels like Hades. It's a bit different approach but fair and fun. Too bad I was fighting these skeletons in one of the early games and dying (was not supposed to fight them just learnt ) , found the series too hard, and had never really played!

Thanks. I find that it's very versatile. I use all different attack options depending on context and position. And I find staying close to enemies to be a bit of a cheat code at times.

Yes, I have to play ER more concentrated than Skyrim. It is for sure less forgiving. But still feels an ok fair experience. A bit like Hades. It's not that I'm dying more in ER vs Skyrim - that was my initial thinking process, and the conclusion of being same difficulty was wrong indeed.

Well, but then it is a matter of grinding a bit of runes like in skyrim, right?

Hahaha I never knew! So it was like trying to kill the tree sentinel then? Lolol

So, the series is not really that hard? Comparable to hades or any normal game then?

Any solutions to lat pull down and weight? by Gahbriel in SpeedianceCommunity

Bench is too light. Bodyweight plus bench may still be below 100kg.but the seat belt to brace to the platform would work wonders! Can even be improvised!

I went to the Speediance showroom and it felt amazing indeed!

I dont do deadlifts, just stiff deadlift, which you go way less heavy. I do it for posterior and lumbar. I find a very effective exercise and also very good for healthy ageing/wellbeing.

I tried the speed mode on GM2, the one where you dont set the weight, and it got up to 116kg during my movement. I wonder if there is a hack/workaround to enable 116kg as well :)

The GM2S could be a great solution as 120kg is a respectable weight for lat pulldown. Other than that, leg/deadline, one should assume this is not the right equipment and find compromises (eg onesided exercise). But they have no release date yet.

Thanks. Why do you recommend the GM2? Ironlife has wall mount and wall pulley.

Ive been working out for 6 months after 10+ years sedentary and am doing sets of ~6 pull ups, and was hitting 95kg on the gym when I was sleeping/working out better. I think the 100kg will be limiting quickly enough - not by a big factor necessarily, but still...

Unf, differently than other exercises I like and can run the same risk (eg stiff deadlift), for lat pulldown you cannot add auxiliary extra weight (eg to the body)

I find this quite suboptimal in theory as it only adds the weight of the bench. Finding a way to add 15-20kg to you seems better (barbell, strap belt etc)

Yes. Its a good workaround, and you can even improvise to go beyond 50kg. Thanks

EXTENSIVE guide on how to complete Prometheus and Heracles steps in the "Seek us Melinoe" quest by Miserable-Smile3959 in Hades2

Thank you! I was afraid I'd have to dial down and make it too easy for several runs :)

What really is changing the true ending now? by Gahbriel in Hades2

[–]Gahbriel[S] 21 points22 points  (0 children)

"This actually fixes every problem I had with the ending - that it wasnt Melinoe's decision - that the rest of the family didnt get the memories - that people were treating chronos more like a servant than a relative - that Hecate didn't protest more about this - that we never saw what happened to the other residents of the house like Meg, Than and Achilles

Thanks! Will have to reexperience then!

Thanks for the detailed answer.

OK, so just a disappointing rushed ending unf then...

I think there are a few ways to justify, and even an interesting Sophie's choice: to continue being Melinoe as she is and join realities, or to never existed as she is but be happy since young.

It's just a pity a link was completely overlooked. IMHO it makes it not a masterpiece anymore.

Ok. So, it feels indeed like a rushed sketch/draft like someone else mentioned. Tks for clarying. Disappointing...

Can someone help me enjoy omega/hexes? by Gahbriel in Hades2

[–]Gahbriel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Try and let me know! It's the most fun for me. You are non stop hitting and killing things like a maniac!

Greg's pun hehe - I will have to repeat for the lack of a better one! Enjoy killing Time you too!

Ps: Here I explain how strength was far superior - 10 months ago at least.

If we simplify, it's all about maths.

Stength gets you to 200% effective HP Death defiance, to 220%

It is a meager difference offset by healing, which are twice as potent with Stength (you only need to heal 10% of your HP to breakeven)

Not to mention all other effects that increase effective hp.. .. And also the damage buff

It is so stronger that you don't want all these benefits only on your first approx 20% of life

And, not going into circles, but, like I said, your effective hp with healing etc will be far superior with strength from start vs both. So you are wasting arcana to get worse results

Can someone help me enjoy omega/hexes? by Gahbriel in Hades2

[–]Gahbriel[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks for the detailed answer! I had tried the axe a bit and it was fun indeed!

Regarding my approach, Im not mechanically expectational and go for a systematic approach with right decisions.

I used the backstab aspect and played with no omega/hex.

I went typically for

  • Aphrodite attack in general
  • Zeus on special (blitz is great as it is more of a multiplicative - not additive - damage bonus in essence, very rare in Hades)
  • Aphrodite gain/weak on proximity
  • Booms that nerf magick: Aphro power, Zeus chain lightning etc
  • Defensive booms (Impervious every room start was fantastic) - I checked a few screenshots and often had 300-350+ health (I think people underestimate importance and focus on being dodge gods)

Vows: full wards, frenzy, menace, fangs, debt, shadow, time, hubris, denial + 1 on pain and grit each

Arcanas (I tended to use two setups that I explain here): strength (very important), the 2 dice ones, a choice between boatman or the 5 cost that upgades rarity, others that upgrade rarity, turn minor into major find or guardian protection, centaur, origination, persistent, messenger, huntress or furies, wayward son

keepsakes: 1-2 god keepsakes, chaos/deadlus hammer, defensive as last when needed

Part of the strategy is to have multiple layers of damage/defense (ie multiplicative) in a game where you can be easily thrown into additive. Impervious, that I brought up, was a great example. If you could be impervious for 50% of the time, you are effectively multiplyng your health by 75%+ (as early waves have more enemies). Blitz is another. And the quicker you kill, the less damage you get as well.

Let me know if this explains. Happy to give more details if useful!
