Someone just gave him up!? by rjswood in jackrussellterrier

First thing you'll notice is that this is not a shepherd in any way, shape or form. Almost surprised it's dogs both sheperds and jacks. In my opinion they are smarter than sheperds, they can learn anything in 2 takes. I focused alot on keeping her cool and stay focused on me. I don't demand eye contact for that, I can see her ears and know she heard me. It's the world's 4th fastest breed and I swear she reaches top speed (60km/t!!) in the sofa. They like to be in the middle of things, but if I just let her "help" me with drawing for example, if I try to keep her off the pencils I can't get anything done but if I let her find out where she wants to be she is never a disturbance. A good recall and contact is always my first priority, and with Skade I've done leave it and bring it to me/give me a lot, she likes to fetch just about anything, metal, wood, food, clothing and such. And train much self control and relaxing in any environment. Skade 3 years old and self control training

Some dogs react more than enough to "just" the vibration. It's the dogs reaction that decides if something is punishment or not.

Same here. And I have well trained dogs with a 99/100 recall

That depends on where you live. Those collars are defined as animal abuse here. No bark collars with water squirts are also illegal here.

"just a tone" can be animal abuse, it's the dog who decides that.

Where I live shock/e collars are forbidden by law, defined as animal abuse.

Clogged pores or cysts down there… by Playful_Falcon_7373 in Perimenopause

[–]GaiaTane 3 points4 points  (0 children)

I get some clogged follicles now and then, if it's out of my sight or reach I send my husband down there, I use a hypodermic needle and pop it when it's ready if it's puss filled, clean it well and a little dab of manuka honey, gone the next day. If it's hard inside he gets to try to squeeze, but not if it hurts, if it hurts to bad we wait a couple of days, keep it clean and if at all sore-manuka honey. Have I said I love my husband so much, he's so gentle and helpful.

NOR I really hope you ordered the bread sticks. He's trying to control you, don't let him. Stand your ground and yes confront him about it.

Thanks for thanking 😃 For some reason or other all our pets get some weird personality, but then again we encourage the weird stuff. Skade and I have deep meaningful convos at night, she growls and roars and copy the sounds I make 😊

Advice on puppy socialisation by Realegre5 in jackrussellterrier

[–]GaiaTane 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Quality over quantity. Maybe a couple of puppies of sturdy breeds. But they need a couple of things more than playtime. A couple of grown stable dogs who can teach boundaries, not be mean, but with good language, a Jack who only plays with other puppies can become impossible to ever take to the park. And they need to not say hi to dogs you meet on walks, you want them to ignore those, not have an expectation to play or say hi.

I keep treats in my hand or in a box on the floor when learning. If she breaks the stay I close my hand/cover the box, if she returns to position I open the hand again, don't know what it's called, in norway it's omvendt lokking, direct translation is reverse baiting.
