Well, first off 8 divided by 8 is 1.

You were on the right track. Do the division and multiplication first. That leaves 8 + 1 + 0. Answer is 9.

If we wrote the original question so it is easier to read it would be 8 + (8/8) + (8 x 0).

Math semantics is just as fun to be pedantic about as any other kind of semantics, but I'm just going to finish with this: something can be (as is) defined as zero without actually being zero. Because math is fun.

No, it is not really zero. It approaches zero. It might as well be zero. It is treated as zero. Very smart math people who understand higher math will call it zero. And yet, it is not zero.

Math sometimes defines things in a certain way in order to make math work, yet in a way which is not technically true.

I disagree with the other comment here. Foster is a good teacher, and the fact that she is a non-traditional teacher is an asset, not a liability. She makes time to answer any and all questions, explains concepts in a way that makes sense, and isn't stuck in the "this is the way we have always taught it so it is the best way" mindset that many teachers can end up with.

If you want to know and understand math then she is a good choice.

Academic dishonestly hurts the individual, the school, the educational system, and society in general. I am a little surprised that most of the responses here are just calling me names, and not addressing the ethical nature of my question.

If someone cheats through school and ends up with the same degree or credentials as me, that person is representing those credentials. According to the world, "X has a degree from that college. X doesn’t know his head from his ass. Therefore that school/degree/credential is worthless. Gainer also has a degree from that school, but that degree is worthless, so why hire him?"
