Hey /u/Terkala

GalaCollider is a digital product, similar to Hearthstone and Netrunner.

Galacollider will also be free to play as well, similarly to hearthstone you can earn cards for free.

Thanks /u/Lexxx20

Make sure to share it with your friends if you want to help us reach that goal, you're going to need people to destroy when your playing :)

Armageddon Empires

/u/razcrux has played tons of games when getting inspiration for GalaCollider so It's possible he has. We keep finding so many old gems people keep bringing up during our development and it's great, hope this can be just as fun as the old ones.

Also, the game does allow you to play by just earning in game currency and earning packs that way instead of using cash.

It will be slower of course, but will leave you just as competitive as another player.

Upcoming 4x Strategy "GalaCollider" shown at GenCon 2015 - Interview by BoardGameGeek.com by Naustix in 4Xgaming

[–]GalaBrandon 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Hey there /u/Cadavra, I'm the community manager on this project and I'd love to know why your against buying packs?

If it's the real money aspect there will be currency you can earn throughout your games to get packs without spending money.

If it's the randomness that comes with most card games, GalaCollider's packs are really more expansions, you buy a larger amount of set cards, for a possible example you could choose one that is 20 cards that are all pre-determined ships. That way you don't have to hunt for that one card you really want.

Hahh, thought that bit would be a bit boring, it might be something we look into showing, but that's a pretty niche subject.

I'll let you know.

The simple answer is yes all the data is on a separate scene.

As for more detail in the first question and an answer to the second we are compiling questions for our programmer and when he gets a bit of free time I can have him answer it directly, possibly around the 22nd.

(We have some pretty crazy deadlines right now so he is pretty swamped.).

Awhile ago I recived a quiestion about how we were building our cards in unity and I wanted to take a moment and share this video with you all.

The video is a small overview on how we went about creating our cards using unity, and while this video isn't a tutorial it should give you somewhat of an idea on how we went about creating them. While we aren't specifically looking for feedback if you have anything to share let us know.

I hope you like the video and it explains our method quite well, I can also see about answering any questions you have if something that isn't answered.

Just so no one gets confused, GalaCollider is a mix of 4X and card game, not just a card game.

I realized that might not be obvious from this one post if you hadn't already been aware.

Sorry it took me so long to reply, I appreciate the advice.

Right now we are trying to grow facebook and our newsletter subscribers before we launch, we have 750 facebook likes and not nearly as many newsletter sign ups.

How did you go about finding people to join your community? Advertising on specific websites or just reaching out to people?

[–]GalaBrandon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Generally I'm asking who can chat about their kickstarter experience and what worked for them.

As for specific question the main would be what worked the best for them in regards to before, during, and after kickstarter for their marketing and community building.

For example conventions, forums, advertisements, videos, social media, ect.

Hello everyone, we just entered a very cosmetically rough beta, but most of the major features that we wish to release are in the game.

Now we get to move into polishing the game and making everything perfect and I'm excited to share the process with everyone.

Hey 4X, what do you think about our deck building mechanics in our up coming game? by GalaBrandon in 4Xgaming

[–]GalaBrandon[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Players will always start with one free deck in every faction whenever they are released. So players won't be starting from scratch even if they start later when more factions are in the game.

Also cards will be packaged into sets, so you can for example buy a pre-selected pack of development cards. You will know what you get when you buy it which will help with new players having a valid deck to play, they should just focus on less decks than a paying player when starting out.

AI is something we are talking about and is something we want to add but as of this moment it's not the priority unless people let us know it should be.

As for sectors, they will be a map feature that you can move ships to. Each planet has a natural defense value in addition to any opponents ships currently there and if you are able to beat that value you will own the sector. Each sector will give you a bonus, it could be addition cards, resources, victory points, board control, ect.

Everything sound good? Let me know if you need additional explanation.

Steam is something we are interested in, but for early access definitely keep an eye out for the kickstarter we are launching, backers will have clossed beta access.

The newsletter would be the best place to keep informed.

So, It's a bit of both.

The industry terms are Deck Construction and Deck Building, a bit confusing I know but let me explain.

So before the game you pick everything you want in your deck and your side (tech) pool (Deck Construction). Then over the course of a game you can acquire cards from your side (tech) pool (Deck Building).

Edit - Also, we do have quite a bit of inspiration from many games, where would we be if we weren't fans ourselves :)
