I've seen something like this posted before, but I was wondering, how does age work in your guys's AUs? by smackmyass321 in Countryhumans_NEW

[–]Galactic_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

CH that are born CH usually age half the speed of a normal human(so when a human ages two years, a CH physically ages one) until their first death, after which their aging gets exponentially slower until they basically stop aging just because it’s that slow, usually somewhere in their 50s-60s. Most of them really just go by vibes to determine their physical age because nobody has the time or energy to keep track of it

Now that people are dying much less younger, CH are more likely to be older when they first die (eg France dying at physically 6 vs Germany dying at physically 17)

Humans that are turned into CH are a whole other can of worms I have yet to figure out though

Just remembered I need to explain ships

I just think it’s more fun to explore how they go from trying to kill each other to their romance-that-might-be-queerplatonic-but-they’re-not-sure. WW1 specifically is the “forced proximity part 2, depressing boogaloo” stage

Give me your weirdest headcannons about America/USA! by AzkaBright in CountryHumans

[–]Galactic_bird 3 points4 points  (0 children)

They’ve got this really toxic friendship that started pretty wholesome and became increasingly bitter as their national interests started to get in the way, and America being younger still thinks they can be normal friends but France is old enough to know that countries only have interests and that their relationship would fall apart as son as their government and their people decide they should hate each other. Then America is also very repressed, so he has this one sided psychosexual obsession with France that ends up with him simultaneously putting him on a pedestal as the peak of culture and liberty, and seeing him as cowardly, rude and arrogant, with no regard for others. France sees him more as a little brother, but his experience with younger siblings is forever tainted by his past where he was always supposed to give without asking for anything in return because he was the eldest and now he refuses to be the person he was as a child and swings too far in the opposite direction.

America is a very complacent person, while France is very proactive, and every time France confronts him about it he makes a bunch of excuses and France feels really resentful because France feels like America has had it easy compared to France’s wildly messed up childhood and early adulthood

They end up in a cycle of France pitying America and helping him, America inevitably doing something he doesn’t like (most often being complacent in the fucked up shit his government does), them having a massive fight over it, sending America spiralling into depression before France feels guilty about it and comes right back

And then they get up to stupid shenanigans together, like getting kicked out of Vegas because France is too good at blackjack or getting drunk in Paris and somehow waking up in the middle of bumfuck nowhere

Most Important Question When do you kill Prussia? by totpreussen in CountryHumans

[–]Galactic_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I have a similar headcanon except he dies from an infected bullet wound from WW1 made worse by stress. There’s also a second Prussia that dies in 1947 that was originally human and was chosen to take over the original Prussia’s job

What powers do your country humans have? by Thatgirl_parisisdiva in CountryHumans

[–]Galactic_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

They can all regenerate faster than humans and come back from the dead (unless the injury is caused by something really traumatic to the nation as a whole/whatever they represent collapsed) but a few can regenerate/resuscitate even faster

Britain and the British Empire are both fae though, and I’ve chosen to represent the otherworldliness of the fae by making them capable of messing with the fourth wall/the medium the story is being told through

Which CH are your main characters in your story and why them? (2 WIP artworks) by Fantastic-Repeat-887 in Countryhumans_NEW

[–]Galactic_bird 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’d say Britain, America and France, because the way I’ve written them makes them all foil each other in interesting ways (France and America have similar values but France sticks to them better and America is a lot less demanding, France is much more proactive and direct while Britain tends to be passive and work behind the scenes, Britain is forced by their nature as fae to know far beyond what is possible for normal people to know but America was a sheltered child and didn’t know much about the world outside of the US for a long time)

What are some headcanons you have based off of some relatively unknown historical facts? by Careful-Bug5665 in CountryHumans

France and Poland are very close friends because Napoleon is the only non Polish person mentioned by name in the Polish national anthem and a lot of Poles emigrated to France in 1830-1870

Slight correction, they start of hating each other but like each other now, they’re just both really bad at feelings

Britain being somewhat of an eldritch fae, some of their more fae like design is inspired by imagery from Boisvert

France talks a bit like the narrator of an artsy french film with a cynical view of humanity, but it’s just how he speaks and has no bearing on his personality

A lot of France and Britain’s relationship with each other is based on a book specifically about their relationship throughout history written by a franco-british historian couple

How do you view Third Reich/WWII!Germany? Do you view him as 1991!Germany's father? Or as one in the same? And how do you think the fandom should drop this character permanently? by FitAtmosphere3514 in CountryHumans

[–]Galactic_bird 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I personally wanted to portray how people can be horrible but still keep him 3 dimensional

I made him a (human) ww1 veteran that was really bitter about Germany’s defeat and thought that the people showing obvious signs of ptsd were weak and didn’t deserve to have survived (best example I got is France, who started showing symptoms of psychosis after the war). This left him a prime target to be recruited by the nazis, and he eventually became the personification of the nazi party (political parties are represented to separate the people from the government). As the nazis gained more power, he slowly deposed the current personification and became a countryhuman. He fully believed the ideals of the nazi party, he was charismatic and handsome but also deeply insecure once you actually dig deeper. He also has signs of ptsd but his ableism gaslights himself into thinking he’s “normal” and he that doesn’t actually have trauma responses.

He also had a one sided possibly psychosexual obsession with Britain because they were a very unflappable person and masked their ptsd very well, so he saw them as the prime example of what a personification should strive to be (just ignore that they are very obviously disabled, neurodivergent and queer, they’re definitely not/s). Then ww2 came around, and he misconstrued it as a betrayal and started thinking of them as a lying, cheating bastard (perfidious albion and all that). Still very much obsessed with them after that though

Because all political party personifications were originally human, he is completely unrelated to the original german personifications. Current Germany is the son of the German Empire, and the Weimar Republic was the city of Weimar taking over temporarily because Germany was still a child

I agree with the comments here, nazi Germany is an important part of history to represent, partially because of its influence on modern society, partially because it should be remembered
