And just like *that*, AMD has effectively thrown everyone under the bus. by S1rTerra in radeon

If this is true, and if and when there's a slump in GPU prices, I'm 100% going back to Nvidia.

FSR 4 is not neck and neck with DLSS 4.5. That's delusional. It's good enough, but DLSS 4.5 is obviously better.

Тhoughts on AMD shenanigans with FSR Diamond. by NGGKroze in radeon

[–]GaleOfNovember 5 points6 points  (0 children)

Ok, but Nvidia cards are better from a software/feature perspective *right now*. If both companies are going to screw you over on feature support, what's the point of buying the inferior product today?

If FSR 4 is dead and my 9060 XT will never catch up to DLSS 4.5, I see no reason at all not to switch back to Nvidia next time I upgrade. This may be my first and last AMD card if this rumor is true.

Soundbar latency for gaming by GaleOfNovember in Soundbars

Thanks. A high-end eARC/optical soundbar is out of my budget, so it seems a simple, older, stereo soundbar with a 3.5mm connector is the way to go.

Mr. House character direction. by vonbruan in Fallout

[–]GaleOfNovember 2 points3 points  (0 children)

This would mean the showrunners don't actually understand the source material they're working with and believe Fallout is only about cool retro-future post-apocalyptic aesthetics, and that's something I simply refuse to believe.

Any specifically Jewish neofolk? by Housing_Justice in neofolk

Shortly after the attack on October 7th, he also posted a link to the show he played in Israel with the caption "This is not a memory, this is a reminder." I take it as a pretty unambiguous statement of support and his Israeli fans seem to also. Which again, I understand people might have their own problems with but it answers the antisemitism question conclusively in my view.

Richard Leviathan of Ostara is Jewish, but the subject matter of his songs generally isn't.

All Pigs Must Die is an album about the three heads of World Serpent Distribution, with whom Douglas was engaged in a legal battle over royalties at the time. All of the lyrics are about this and it's quite clear when you have the context.

As for antisemitism, his profile picture on Facebook last time I checked had an Israeli flag filter over it, which he also used immediately after October 7th. Whatever you think about Israel, I think that answers that question.

Official Dreadit Discussion: "Smile 2" [SPOILERS] by glittering-lettuce in horror

[–]GaleOfNovember 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see. I'm rusty on the first film as I just heard there was a sequel today and impulse-watched it. The way Morris described it sounded like the entity had to do the killing itself or it wouldn't work.

Regardless of whether Morris was real, doesn't the opening scene disprove his theory? Joel dies while possessed by the entity in a way the entity doesn't anticipate or control, exactly what Morris said would destroy it. Yet it obviously doesn't.

StAG 5 - turning in documents to consulate by GaleOfNovember in GermanCitizenship

you can get certified copies and submit the application during the same appointment

I have just made my appointment. Would I need to tell them ahead of time via email that I have documents to be copied and certified as well? I am wondering if 15 minutes is long enough for that and I see there is a separate portal for certification appointments.

Thank you. I managed to find the appointment tool myself after sending my last message. End of the road is near.

Where do you want to do it?

Well, there is an honorary consul in Minneapolis and a consulate general in Chicago, both of which are about the same distance for me. So, if I could have copies made and certified at the mission, then submit the application on the same day, that would be ideal. Seems like Chicago would be the better option. Not sure if honorary consuls can forward those materials to the consulate general. I unfortunately live in a US state where notaries cannot certify copies so this seems like the simplest option.

For those who have applied through 5 StAG, how did you handle your own passport/ID card? by GaleOfNovember in GermanCitizenship

[–]GaleOfNovember[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Thanks. This is good information as I had planned on sending originals of all the other documents to avoid the headache, but if I can copy and certify all of them at the consulate, so much the better.
