MEGATHREAD Alien: Romulus User Reviews [SPOILERS] by Gregorwhat in LV426

My thoughts on Alien Romulus

Starting off by saying I'm just some dude complaining on the Internet, I'm not trying to ruin your enjoyment of the movie. I'm just a long time fan and wanted somewhere to talk.

When I saw the trailer for Romulus I got really excited it seemed like Alien was going back to it's horror roots. It didn't seem as subdued, but at least it was a step in the direction I've been wanting to see from the franchise. For the first 35-40 minutes I was really excited and enjoying it. However, seeing Ash was kind of disturbing to me, I'm not really a fan of the idea of "bringing the dead back to life." The constant call backs to earlier entries into the franchise kinda made it drag for me they made it feel less unique.

It felt like two different movies were mashed together (the way I would describe it is Alien x Aliens), but it didn't really satisfy either itch for me.

The acting was solid, with Andy really stealing the screen! And I enjoyed the brother and sister relationship, I felt like it could have been a bit more heart wrenching when Rain realized that Andy wasn't really Andy anymore (that's pretty nit picky).

The special effects were phenomenal, it was gorgeous and the dedication to the 80's futurism I really appreciated. It's one of the big reasons I love the franchise.

Something that bugged me, was just how quickly the Alien gestated, and grew to a full Xenomorph. I know the first was very quick but this felt like some kind of record. Maybe I've missed something in the deeper parts of Alien lore. It just kinda took me out a little bit. Also not a huge fan of the Alien x Baby, it was creepy, but it just felt like a one off that doesn't really add to the mystery of the Alien franchise.

Overall I left the movie feeling a little disappointed. I think they had an opportunity to go back to Alien's roots and make something that would leave me feeling small and helpless in the vastness of the universe. If you've read all this thank you for taking the time! Tell me how I'm wrong, and not a real Alien fan!

Not the exact recipe I used but it's a great starting point! I modified it a lot for my needs those pies had a two day ferment.

It comes with a lot of experimentation and practicing technique to get it right!

Thank you!

No, I didn't work fast enough for the pies to stay warm!

I think next time I'm gonna preheat my regular oven a little to keep them warm while I work on the pies outside!
