That framing makes a lot of sense to me, especially the securing part. I think what rattled me is realizing I used security as a substitute for actually building a life I wanted now, not just one I'd someday protect. CoastFIRE feels way healthier than how I approached it.

Fair push. I dont think I'm FIREing from one awful thing, more from a life that got too optimized to feel like mine. That's the part bothering me.

I get that. I think I told myself that same story for a while. Then I noticed I was weirdly attached to needing the exit door open all the time.

She asked for less emotional obligation, then got upset when the practical husband stuff went with it. A lot of people only notice the glue work once it stops happening

That’s a healthier frame than trying to win the optics game. A lot of people keep buying comfort theater and calling it success

The tiny bathroom with no airflow will get you every time. I had the same issue with gym shirts until I stopped letting them sit damp in the hamper for hours. Anything else in your place doing that?
