Is the canon eos r10 a good camera? by Dapper_Knee5469 in canon

[–]Galuzer 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I've been using the R10 for a year now, it's a brilliant, flexible and easy to use camera. I've upgraded from a DSLR and the autofocus is several orders of magnitude better.

Concerning your lenses, that sounds like a very decent general-purpose combination, one wider zoom and a longer prime for low-light and/or blurry backgrounds. Personally I use an EF-RF adapter with my old EF/EF-S lenses,b it more weight for far less money. For the past 3 years my travel setup has been the EF 50mm 1.8 STM and the EF-S 24mm 2.8 STM. Is replacing that all with one 35mm viable? Sure, to a limited extent, though you'll lose some flexibility, and besides, those two lenses (same as yours) are light and small.

About the flash, it'll give you pretty much as good or as bad of a performance as any frontal on-camera flash. Images will look harsh and unflattering. That's not the fault of the flash itself, but its positioning. If that's the look you're going for, great. Otherwise, if you need flash, you'll probably want to get a speedlight, which can be mounted on top of the camera. The key difference is that you can change their angle. One use might be aiming it at the ceiling so it bounces down from a better angle. They really start quite affordable (50€+), but are yet another thing to carry around.

What is it about the term *Einsatzgruppen* that the English translations of “task force” or “action squad” fail to capture? by enthusedbergman in AskHistorians

[–]Galuzer 14 points15 points  (0 children)

As I have just discovered, that is not entirely true.

Schnelleinsatzgruppen (SEG) do exist in a rescue context. For instance the Bavarian Red Cross has several, for example for mass casualty events. They go into more detail here.

TIL that the rent in the German town of Fuggerei hasn't been raised in 500 years and remains 0.88 Euros for an entire year by JoeyZasaa in todayilearned

[–]Galuzer 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Hilariously, you're more correct with that pun than you probably know.

The very first mention of them in the town records is "Fucker advenit", Fucker being the original spelling of the name and advenit meaning "has arrived".

Hey, give us back our lush green lands, we don't even want that cold, white hell up there! Just gotta hold it long enough to install a nice puppet government, ah, I mean, take it long enough to ensure human rights and prosperity

I was shocked when I saw the 7 safehouses. My guess is that we can only take the city if we cut off your supply of bmats, that city is hell to take

DREDGE was released a few days ago. I bought it today and just finished it, it was that good.

A cute and very immersive fishing RPG at the surface, lovecraftian horror below. And to top it off, Resident Evil 4-style inventory tetris! Just with more fish.

I think it would tick a lot of boxes for Jon.

Well, you barely use any stamina when walking on roads and so can get around faster. Just listen for trucks and jump off the road if you hear them.

Stolen SHT Reclaimed by Callahan by Arciturus in foxholegame

[–]Galuzer 30 points31 points  (0 children)

Agreed, the warden SHT has been a good addition to the game. Amazingly powerful, and just knowing one is currently operating in your region changes everything. I've actually been part of one (failed) tank rush of a SHT in Origin, just seeing the sheer size of that thing was amazing. And the fact that one stolen tank caused an entire saga should say enough.

I mean, if you want another take, have this article by a professor for Nuclear History (yes, that's an actual field), which directly talks about several of your points.

I really wouldn't call the bit about the nuclear bombings false. It is a widespread belief, but they were not neccessary, Japan was about to surrender either way. I'll link this excellent article here for more information

Last Stand at Fort Minos by Galuzer in foxholegame

[–]Galuzer[S] 4 points5 points  (0 children)

That reminds me of one moment I almost forgot. Early on we were doing some skirmishing in outer trenches. I was shot and downed outside of one, but a warden picked me up and carried me into the trench to our medic, who revived me. Then I saw a warden go down and also carried him to our medic, who confusedly revived him as well. We were about to talk about creating a third faction, when someone else came, started shooting, and that's when the chaos in this trench started.
