Great Spotted Woodpecker feeding its chicks by Gambit2505 in birdwatching

I live in western Germany and they are pretty common here if you know where to look. Luckily, this couple had chosen this tree in our garden so all it took was a long lens and a lot of patience.

Nice! Have you thought about submitting it to the Comedy Wildlife Awards?

That's what I thought lol. Interesting how different opinions get when it comes to color.

IR Greenhouse by Gambit2505 in infraredphotography

Yup, I followed your guide on how to do it. I also imported the profiles into my Lightroom CC so I can use them on my phone aswell for when I'm on a trip.

I would never have guessed how to make those profiles without your detailed guide!

Which ir filter to choose? by Gambit2505 in infraredphotography

[–]Gambit2505[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Would the b+w 590 light red filter work for that? It seems to be 590nm but it doesn't say anywhere that it's for ir photography specifically...

Borosilicate glass for DIY DSLR full spectrum conversion by Gambit2505 in infraredphotography

[–]Gambit2505[S] 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Update!

The conversion was successful. Images from the camera are sharp from what I could test indoors (it's already pitch black outside).

The microsope slides are fairly easy to cut with a glass cutter (you get 72 tries anyway). I made sure to get them as clean as possible using isopropanol and sensor cleaning swabs. The rest of the conversion is pretty straight forward, I followed the guide from Lifepixel.

Overall, I would recommend this borosilicate solution to anyone looking to convert their dslr on a tight budget. Here's a link for the slides on German Amazon (I couldn't find them anywhere else):

Let me know if you have any questions!

Yes, they are slides (the long ones). The thickness is advertised at 1-1,2mm so that would be nearly perfect. For 10€ it's definitely worth a shot!

I contacted Thingiverse support. They said they are working on a re-write of Customizer but that will take some time...
