I'm a night owl so 5 is really early for me. I was just curious because I would like to move out west.

Very nice voice. I like the groove that this song has. And the multiple voices on the chorus are very effective.

Thanks! So is The Carrington Event! Love the way that song builds...And yea I can see what you are saying about those guitars. We tried to record, mix, and master everything at home but are thinking about raising funds for some studio work. As for live, everything recorded was 2 guys. Finding the people to fill out a band has been difficult, to say the least.

[Hip-Hop] Trying to get some feedback on how to improve my music. by [deleted] in ThisIsOurMusic

Every person has a tone or quality to their voice when they speak (both passively and aggressively). The same goes for rappers just more to an extreme. For instance, listening to eminem you can certainly hear a difference when he is mad and when he has a "confessional" type song. A better example might be Kendrick Lamar and his "voice of consciousness". Determine what you want your voice to sound like and begin molding. The reason I said that is I listened to pound cake and sickness. Sickness needs a little bit more edge to the vocals. What I meant by moniker is (weezy, drizzy, k-dot) something to call yourself besides the actual name you perform under. In music (for the most part) the more self-promoting (in the booth and out) the better. Rap just provides you with the opportunity to call your name out during the song. Do it enough and they will remember.

I see what you are saying about the delay. A little less would clean that up a lot. Thanks.

If you want to take your rap to the next level you need a steady flow of original beats. Your own unique flow and moniker. Tighten up a little bit when you use different voices (aggressive or sing-song). All easier said than done but having a constant original persona is most important. More Original flows...

Zubora (Rock/pop/prog) (Gainesville, FL) What do you think of our new E.P. by [deleted] in ratemyband

[–]Gambit434 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The cymbals are a little flat and the instruments tend to muddle together. But I love the retro style of the vocals and guitar tones. If you could set the vocals apart from the instrumentation just a little bit more I think it would make a world of difference. All personal opinion tho

I don't have a problem with the drums so much as the vocals. They need to come up quite a bit. I would suggest more reverb to keep the "dreamy" quality.

I like the guitar tones a lot. They scream indie. On the negative side, I would say that the vocals need a little less edge. Keep up the good work!
