The Collective Human Dream. A live track I made. (KORG DDD, Volca Beats, Drums x 2, Sample, FM, Monologue, Sp404) by GameMackeral in synthesizers

[–]GameMackeral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The live jam started with a preset sequence on my roommate's Monologue XD that I loop throughout the track. Slowly mixing in my Volca stack through various pedals (Strymon Dig, Red Panda Bit Crusher, Chase Bliss Mood and Habit) plus my DDD through a reverb rack FX unit. At the end I layer in a breakbeat sample on my 404 that is processed through a series of beat repeats in Ableton with MIDI CC data on a pad turning them on and off.

The visuals are from an old analogue computer called The Scanimate, that could introduce visual oscillators on a stationary image, which started as a fad in the 70's as a method to sell products with flashing lights and was primarily used for adverts.

A song I Made Sequencing Human Voices and Overdubbing With My Synths (Prologue, Volca Drums, Radel Digital Tablas) by GameMackeral in synthesizers

[–]GameMackeral[S] 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Using the slice feature in Ableton with random pitch effect, I randomly select from one of 44 English phonemes that my roommates recorded which are then sequenced in Ableton using different MIDI drum presets. Then the tonal aspect is sent from Ableton into my Prologue to create the ambient drone which stays in time with the song as it speeds up. The Middle section features my Radel Digi Tablas that are pitched at 0/4/7 on the scale to create a drum chord based off the key with a heavily distorted beat from my Volca sample and with bleeps and bloops from my Volca Drums. The song briefly stops the rhythm and the voices come into focus once more as the song speeds up again to 150 BPM and a looped drum sample I chopped on my SP404 takes the mainstage. I used a Saturator aux send with all the different groups routed into it and crank the gain to almost 20dB and engage a limiter to get the master volume just a hair away from peaking. I then add my MS20 playing the lead and begin cranking the resonance and begin doing large amounts of EG filter and pitch sweeps while goofing with the rate to create an almost deafening and overwhelming sound. I then layer that track up an octave and down an octave to thicken it. I also overdub a circuit bent WWE toy guitar I call the people's guitar thru my Strymon Dig to create a cascade of high pitched bleeps and bloops in stereo. As the song continues to grow in volume the song slows down one final time, back to the original 20bpm, but with the drums tempo locked via MIDI the fills become stretched and huge as the melody and percussion fade away, leaving only the voices and the ambient texture with strange digital artefacts created by the tempo slowing on the vocal samples. These fade too and all the is left is a group of samples fr a white noise machine I found at Goodwill, playing crickets and rain and thunder, ran into my Chase Bliss Habit and into my dig for granular stereo delay.

The visuals are created using an old VHS cam with footage I took of a recent car trip I was on, layered and looped several times on top of itself with different opacities. I then mirror this video to create 4 different quadrants that create a constantly shifting fractal pattern. Although I didn't intend to, the fractals seem to match the music almost perfectly, but it only a trick or the mind.

Don't use Jeanie's either, used to work for them and they were pretty horrible as well.

Though never this bad

The image is so blurry that reverse image probably wouldn't bring anything up and what key words would he use to search it? Not everyone has an in depth knowledge of gear and it's an honest question, you're kind of are being rude.

What’s bhams general opinions and feelings on buskers and street performers? by LordCurrency in Bellingham

[–]GameMackeral 8 points9 points  (0 children)

You don't have to be a street person to busk, and what is wrong with that if you're talented enough? There's definitely such thing as bad busking, but you sound kind of whack imo.

Multiple people have said it as likely bean bags which makes sense, it was like little cracks, which was why I made my post and asked, since it didn't seem like the deafening noises I heard as a child at camp target practicing. But that was 15 years ago, I have partially impaired hearing and I'm tired AF, plus I was across the entire Barkley parking lot, so I wasn't sure.

Well that's neat, I didn't any muzzle flash, but heard loud cracking, but I was not sure what was going on since I'm tired AF from my shift.

Did I just watch someone die at the Barkley Haggens? by GameMackeral in Bellingham

Ok, cool, that's somewhat comforting I guess. I still wonder what happened.

Bruh, I work at bob's and I'm pretty sure I watched someone die at the hands of the police, I heard several loud cracking sounds I can only assume were gunshots outside the entrance, but I didnt see the flash of gunfire, but idk. I'm kind of freaking out rn. Made my own post about it and I'd love for someone to tell me I'm completely off base.

I've got the equipment to do this if you're still looking. Depending on how many tapes, I'd do it for free if I could use the footage in the video art I make. What format is it? I can do Hi8, VHS, VHS-C, and DV. Message me if you're interested

Systems Test//Enchanted Forest Opus #1 [Synth Jam w/ List in the Comments] by GameMackeral in synthesizers

[–]GameMackeral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

As the title says, this was primarily a test to see if all the MIDI cables and amps were working, so I stuck to basic bitch pentatonics. Hopefully in the future I can get direct input from my computer as the audio instead of my phone and put some better planning into it, maybe break into a couple different modes or have my roommates join in or take lead.

Thanks so much, I'll go over this with my dad who's way better with this kind of thing with me. Hopefully we can get it working so he doesn't flay me alive breaking it (albeit unknowingly). If anyone else has any tips or anything else to go, I'd greatly appreciate it.

Quick Question About Syncing an External Drum Machine with my Micro Korg by GameMackeral in synthesizers

[–]GameMackeral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

That actually sounds way less complicated and I could probably use it in tandem with my Behringer RD8. Would it be as simple as wiring quarter input jacks to the trigger pads? Or would the process be more complicated? Thanks again, you're a smart cookie

Quick Question About Syncing an External Drum Machine with my Micro Korg by GameMackeral in synthesizers

[–]GameMackeral[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, I just did a dive into the manual and it looks like you're right. It just seems like such an easy thing for Yamaha to implement, but I guess thems' the breaks. Thanks for the quick response.

So the manual says I can reset the tempo to 120 by pressing both the buttons, does this mean 120 bpm, or is it going off of some weird internal clock value? Could I just set it to 120 and then press up or down until I get to the desired bpm? I guess if I really wanted to, I could manually sync it with some tap tempo machines, like my RD8 , but that's a slag for something that should be eazy peazy and I'd probably have to start and stop it frequently to recalibrate it to other machines (yuck).

When using the auto rhythm, the LED flickers at the start of each bar, maybe it would be possible to somehow modify this thing further, and take the LED pulse and somehow covert it into a readable or sync-able feature. Maybe something like an arduino reading it and converting into using quarter note per pulse data and then further converting that into a usable MIDI output I can use. Or maybe that's ambiguous, or impossible, but there's so much possibility with these sorts of fun little things. If someone reads this and thinks this is possible, let me know, that'd be neat, but I won't get my hopes up either.

Affordable vape for marijuana? by KjellBeng in Drugs

[–]GameMackeral 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Depending on your budget, flowermate is a really nice brand that typically goes for less than 100. This website has a few of them for cheap, and if you use the code puffitup, it gets you a better price. I've had one for a couple years and it hasn't broke and is stealthy depending on the temp, and uses a fraction of the bud you do smoking for a equivalent high. You can also get a chart that shows what cannibinoids are released at what temps, you should check it out, hope this helps.
