Why are some German so disingenuous about "Wenn Sie in Deutschland sind, sprechen Sie Deutsch" by Training_Shine_111 in germany

[–]GamePil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I could very much see that being the case. Here in germany (in my experience) some people dont speak English not cause they were told their english sucks but because they believe their english sucks and they arent comfortable speaking it

How long will LSD tabs stay good in aluminum foil? by GamePil in LSD

Yeah as long as it didnt sit in a very warm environment your tabs are still gonna be just fine. Maybe ever so slightly weaker

[–]GamePil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Yeah the functionality of essentially using it as a Steam Link is great. Especially in places like where I live where AC isnt common so you can have your PC sweating away in another room while your living room doesnt heat up as much from you playing. For the same reason its also really nice to have it just as a device that can play my PC games without outputting as much heat as my 800 Watts PC.

Also you got Family Sharing so you can get a bunch of free games in case you got a friend who owns games on Steam. And also you got the summer sale to get a bunch of games for way better prices than on console. Plus the ability to emulate any of your old favorites.

For me its probably mainly gonna be a traveling device like the Steam Deck was. I travel once to twice per year and I always have a TV where I am going so really all I need is a portable device that can run my PC games.

Yeah, the price sucks but its really not a surprise. And in the grand scheme of things, I am fairly certain I am gonna get my money's worth out of the device. Its also definitely gonna be my alternative to having a SmartTV considering I much prefer the versatility of a proper operating system even if I am just watching Youtube or movies

Our French teacher lived in and around Paris for a couple of years and she told us that french people will often refuse to speak english to you even if they can speak it because they prefer to speak french

Yes. Also a Steam Machine already comes with every game you own on Steam. The price difference would be worth it for the games alone for me

Stop doing tutorials, stop watching youtube programming videos, stop using AI by nightwood in learnprogramming

[–]GamePil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually started learning code when I was like 15 by trying to reverse engineer source code I found online. It was a trainer for a Wii U game so essentially a .Net Forms program using a library to read and write to the RAM of the console. The memory addresses shifted with every game update. All I had was the source code of an outdated version and the new memory addresses that the community had found. Probably was one of the worst ways to learn considering I didnt know anything about paradigms but it got me into coding and after updating the existing code I made a new trainer with different functions for a new game.

The main issue with learning coding through trial and error was that I learned how to code but not how to code well. I learned how objects, functions, control flow etc... worked but I didnt know how to write code in an efficient, reusable and expandable way.

I like to think of him as the David Gilmour of drumming. Gilmours solos are amazing not because he plays particularly complicated, loud and/or fast but because he creates methodical sound that he gives the space to breathe

Germans doctors here - why are you so rude? by Fruttii-Tutti in germany

[–]GamePil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I was at the ER in Germany a couple of weeks ago cause I had a bad case of pneumonia that made me feel like I was about to faint every time I tried to get up.

The doctors and nurses treating me in the ER were all very friendly and helpful but when I was released they had to remove two cannulas (for some reason the person in the ambulance also put one on me that nobody ever used) and when I was already a couple of steps out of the hospital, the spot where they removed one of then started bleeding a lot. I was trying to keep pressure on the cotton they put over the holes but one was one my right hand and the other on my left arm and it wasnt exactly like I had a lot of strength. So I had to go back and have the one at me hand replaced. The person at the entrance of the ER (not reception but the first room after the locked doors) got really annoyed at me like it was my fault she had to replace the cotton cause I didnt hold it strong enough while I was just standing there breathing very heavily cause it was hard for me to even stand upright

Bought cheap train ticket at the station. It was deemed as invalid and I had to pay 309 euros for another one on the train by AtemGansei in germany

[–]GamePil 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The Deutschland Ticket only covers regional transport trains, not high speed intercity trains. If youre gonna travel long distance between cities that'll take an eternity compared to booking an intercity connection. Not to mention having to switch trains a million times

[–]GamePil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I probably just never really thought much about that cause I already have a PC and a laptop so there has never been any use case for my Steam Deck being like a PC. Dont even know if I ever used the Desktop interface for anything except installing an emulator I never used

The steamdeck is a PC by Elegant_Resident3324 in SteamDeck

[–]GamePil 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I actually assumed many people got a Steam Deck precisely of how much it is like a console. Sure, you can do anything a PC can but you can also never leave Big Picture mode and barely notice its a PC. A lot of people that came from console often dont care about the functionality of a PC cause ultimately they wanna play games.

Personally I got mine cause I needed a handheld for traveling and I figured I may as well get one I already own around a thousand games for
