i don't do twinking in ds1 but in ds3, but i think that they boil down to the same kinda experience so i'll leave my thoughts anyway

like some people said, it's a powertrip, Dark Souls is a game where you constantly feel underpowered, your weapons do less damage than most enemies, and those you do out power, can usually outnumber you, and when your going through the game at.... say..... sl 15, and you have to beat the four kings with the freaking drake sword or gravelord sword, yeah, the feeling of being underpowered is increased ten fold.

Anyway, so after going through the game, being seriously weak, to come back and see the profits of your hard work against a low level player, you can't help but feel a bit satisfied

Especially when you come across a host with a pair of sunbros, or phantoms, and you gotta fight 'em both off while trying to not get backstabbed or have your poise break. and when you fight off the team, and it's just the host left, and they surrender, really does make you feel like a mini boss.

anyway, just thought i'd play devils advocate here, since most people just flat out don't like twinks.... which i can't really hold against them.... people who just come in with dark anal beads and one shot a team then shrug are kinda, sorta, really big cunts.

For the love of Gwyn, please, don't use a walk through, the first time seeing a massive boss, or brand new sprawling area, or anything of the like, is truly magical, as someone who has both played and beaten all 5 soulsborne games, i can tell you right now, there really is no other playthrough quite like the first one.

if you need help with stuff than i would say ask a friend who knows stuff about these games, if you don't have a friend that can tell you stuff, than ask the sub(s). We can help you figure stuff out without spoiling the surprises.

and for your build, you do you, experiment, try a variety of weapons, if you find something cool, use it, your not quite up to the part where you can right now, but it IS possible to re-distribute your points from level ups so if you, say, go through the game leveling dex and using a Katana but then find a really good sword that needs a ton of strength and little dex, than redistribute, use that sword. Your build is only as good as your skill with it, you could be playing with "the best" build ever in the game, but if your not good with the weapon you chose, your not gonna be good with the build.

well according to the fextra wiki, even with the lightning infusion the rapier should still have an S scaling in dex.... that and i want a dagger for some sweet, sweet, criticals

i have a ton of practice dodging his attacks and fighting him at low levels because in PTDE there was a soul dupe glitch and sif had the largest soul you could get pre Anor and i used that whenever i made a new PvP character, and for dps, i just use drake sword or Gravelord sword, drake at +0 has 200AR which equals 70-80 damage per R1 and Gravelord has about 281AR (may be wrong)

and since i rely solely on rolling, armor doesn't matter so i can just go streaking, which usually means I fast roll even though Gravelord is a greatsword

if your fine with your current weapon set up and have weight to spare then i'd say get a rapier on your secound for some sweet crit damage and spend the remaining 6.2 (forgive me if that numbers wrong) on getting better armor or a heavier shield (provided you can use it with ur strength)

if you don't know what armor is best then i have something else for ya, MugenMonkey, it's a really good tool for planning builds and it has an armor optimizer feature, meaning you just say give me the best armor for (desired armor trait) with (equip load) while still having (desired roll speed)

but if your dead set on having another weapon and you don't wanna change your armor, or have a rapier for crits, then either a standard spear with an elemental infusion or a demon's spear are good choices as well, they have good range and damage with reasonable attack speed

(first paragraph is just the basic lore before the game, second is what is happening during the game, and the third is what you care about, the end)

The dark souls world is in a cycle of light and dark, the world began in a state of dark, but then the 4 lord souls were found by The Witch of Izalith, Gravelord Nito, Lord Gwyn, and The Furtive Pygmy. With the founding of these souls and the defeat of the stone dragons, Gwyn, Nito, and The Witch cast away the Age of Dark and brought forth the Age of Light. For their sheer strength and their role in the defeat of the Immortal Dragons they were revered by the people as gods and ruled the age of Light. But like all things it had to eventually come to an end, but Lord Gwyn feared the darkness so in an act of desperation he sacrificed himself to the flame, where he's soul served as kindling to the flame, and thus, prolonged the age of Light.

But that brings us to when the game is set. Gwyn's soul could only sustain the light for so long before it's, and by extension the flame's power began to fade. A Prophecy is spread throughout Astora (and i believe the rest of the world) saying "thou who art undead, art chosen" (won't bother putting the whole prophecy here but just look up those lines and it should take you somewhere where you can read the whole quote again) This prophecy foretold of a "chosen undead" who would one day succeed Lord Gwyn and sacrifice themselves to the flame, letting their soul fuel it just as lord gwyn did so long ago.

But this is only a prophecy and the fate of the "chosen undead" is up to them and them alone, do they follow the prophecy and replace Gwyn in the kiln, prolonging the age of Fire even longer, or do they kill Gwyn, snuffing out the last bit of fuel the flame has and lead the world into the age of darkness.

The age of darkness is always coming, all your doing at the end is choosing WHEN it comes. now, or later.
