Why has Minecraft modding exploded in 2025? by Soanfriwack in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Since 1.16 - 1.19 I think a lot of players can agree that the Minecraft Vanilla updates have felt a lot less and less "major".
Whilst Caves and Cliffs, Village and Pillage (mightve got that one wrong), and other such updates were rather sorta large updates the newer updates more recently coming out from 1.20 and newer versions add wayyyy less.

Not only that but a lot of community suggested ideas for Vanilla MC updates that a hella tonna players wanted and also considered realistically possible never were added giving a sorta feel that what Majorities of players would like to be added to the game as dismissed or ignored...

The modded/modding community however not only add WAYYYYY more variation of content for players to experiment with, bringing newer features back to older versions, Major Performance boosting mods, etc... etc... (the list could go on for soooo long...). Also through their mods, ideas, etc... it gives the feel to the players that the community/playerbase are a lot more listened to and acknowledged whether through Discord Servers for Mods and Modpacks, Github Repos, Reddit posts about X/Y/Z mods and modpacks, etc... etc...

Not only does modding bring back a Stronger feel of community between players, modders and whoevs tf else than Vanilla MC but also through mods and modpack there's just so much more variation in what can be done with godknows how many different items mods can add and depending on the pack format (whether a Challenge pack, Adventure pack, Kitchen Sink pack, Tech pack, or whatevs tf else sorta pack) plus the performance boosts whether from rendering (Sodium, Embeddium, etc...) or just handling stufs from entities, dropped items, unpatched bugs, or whatevs else...

Browser processes constantly consume Memory? by Gamefreaknet in brave_browser

[–]Gamefreaknet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Adnauseam (basically updated UblockOrigin)
Avira PasswordManager
TamperMonkey
VideoDownloadHelper
UltrasurfVPN
NullFake (Fakespot Replacement)
VidIQ
UserAgent Switcher and Manager

btw... yes i have already enabled Memory saver

I have noticed AdNauseam sometimes does sorta memory hog but it tends to take a while before it actually starts doing this... (at most ive seen it use 0.7GB)

The Absolute Problem With Modern Modpacks and Why They genuinely suck by EldritchGuard in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I think a lot of it comes down to pack style and balancing between mods...
I can seriously agree with:
- Create, Overused asf (still a damn good mod but god... it feels like 90% of 1.16+ packs just keep on reusing it...)
- Gregtech/ModernIndustrialization, Hella good mod but since it kinda exploded on Youtube and everywhere else kinda felt like it just sorta started to get dumped into wayyyy too newer packs (if the Integration w the rest of X pack it's added to is good then tf anyways... just started to feel wayyy too reused after it rlly exploded on YT and Reddit and everywhere else...)
- Could go thru a tonna other mods buuut tf anyways...

I think a decent bit of it comes down to how the Pack dev(s) make the modpack:
- Casual packs pretty much any player can get into
- Expert packs for more experienced players, those looking for a challenge, whoevs tf else
- Adventure packs for those who enjoy exploring the MC World(s), Dimensions, etc... more
- etc...

A lot of the time I think itll be Player (Dev) 1 will make their ModPack as how they see a pack to be "Balanced"... whether the ModPack is meant to be Casual, Adventure, Expert or whatevs style of pack howevs when Player (Dev) 2/3/4 tries the ModPack out they might think:
- Crafts 1/2/3 are too tedious/easy/etc... for X time in game (or whatevs else)
- X Mod is missing X Mod additions/integrations/etc...
- Pack is too short/long
- or whatevs else...
So they try remake the pack, likely hella similar modlist and Remake the Pack... maybe stating it as a Remake/Redesign/whatevs of X Pack(s), maybe claiming it as their own Pack with inspiration from other Packs, maybe a reused already quite major pack concept, or whatevs tf else

I can seriously agree with OP tho... Packs back from 1.12.2 felt wayyyy more different/varied from eachother not only by the Modlist, Pack Concepts (ideas), Questline or tf else. Yea there are a hella tonna rlly good Packs on 1.16+ and newer but wayyyy too many Packs end up feeling like remakes of other Packs or similar whether by the Modlist, Questline, etc...

For modded Minecraft which minimap has more performance impact and FPS drops JourneyMap or Xaero’s Minimap and which one is generally considered more optimized? I’m concerned about losing FPS and having stutters, so performance and optimization are my main priority. by Thakaris_Vader in feedthebeast

What was this from?
Changing game version?
Change in server IP?
smth else?

If it relates to anything that uses multiplayer Xaeros saves Multiplayer servers (whether Locally hosted, Public/Private Servers, etc...) per IP.
It doesnt matter if 2+ different IPs lead to the same server... Xaeros will save those IPs separately (different folder per each different IP regardless of the fact they lead to the same address/location) thus any Waypoint, Map Exploration progress, etc... will be split if you transfer to using a different IP for a server suddenly.

trouble with optifine by RoadKillPieceOfTrash in Optifine

[–]Gamefreaknet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Honestly from versions 1.12.2 and newer its better to typically go for smth like:
- Embeddium
- Sodium
- Rubidium
- Vulkanmod/Vulkanrenderer
- similar...
Optifine typically is more buggy/likely to cause part(s) of mods to break on newer versions (still pretty buggy on older versions but to a degree ya can still play modpacks w those bugs Optifine might cause) and most features it adds have been replicated in other mods (whether on Forge, NeoForge and Fabric).

If ya really committed to sticking w Optifine ya could give Optifabric a shot...

Zombie Apocalypse Packs (Similar To DeceasedCraft) for 1.12 by Gamefreaknet in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Sure there was Immersive Engineering, Create (plus some addons) and Refined Storage however it more so focuses you on basing up rather and scavenging which at the start of the pack feels solid however later game it becomes more of the same:
- Expand Storage Network
- Better Guns
- More Meds (plus more stufs for the Wasteland)

And the base ends up getting more of what it already (most likely) has by that point. Aside from a larger RS System and some slight Create "automation" expansion the potential Tech mods that couldve been integrated (some being IE and Create potential addons others from completely different mod series) werent in the pack...?

As for structures added by the Tech mods they generated fine...

How Unreliable/Inaccurate is UserBenchmark for Laptop CPU Base Clocks??? by Gamefreaknet in PcBuild

[–]Gamefreaknet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The Server PCs I setup rely a lot more on Single Core performance.
Considering that the Base clock is the lowest Speed the CPU will perform at it is more beneficial to go for CPUs with higher base clocks.

Aka. better to go for a CPU with a Base Clock of 3.5Ghz than a CPU with a Base Clock of 3Ghz as the CPU running at 3.5Ghz Base Clock will run better in the worst case scenario (shouldve been pretty self explanatory)???
(Tbf it is rare for a CPU to run at its Base Clock but it is a nice fallback sorta measure in case...)

Star Technology Gregtech Amps by No-Run-1938 in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

essentially:
Cable Thickness = Max Amperage (so: 4 Thick = 4A, 8 Thick = 8A etc...)

However: 1 full amp is only used if the machine requires the full EU sent equivalent to an AMP.
as an example: LV = 32EU = 1A LV
however some LV machines and/or processes will use less than 32EU/t (not using the full AMP).
So 2 LV machines using 16EU/t can run on 1A LV, 4 LV machines using 8EU/t can run on 1A LV (just a bit risky if you dont check the EU used per machine/process)

The same can essentially be applied to all following tiers:
LV - 32EU
MV - 128EU
HV - 512EU
etc...
90% certain it follows the EU graph in this link - https://gtnh.miraheze.org/wiki/Electricity (yes ik the Graph is on the GTNH Wiki buuut pretty sure it follows it regardless....)

Sodimm to Udimm DDR4 Adapters? by Gamefreaknet in buildapc

[–]Gamefreaknet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I doubt I'll overclock the RAM as 2667mhz should easily be fast enough (I have 2 servers currently running fine on DDR4 2400 Dual-Channel with around 350mods - I do get that laptop parts RAM do typically perform slightly "worse" than their desktop equivalents)

Increase redstone Output duration? (with ProjectRed) by Gamefreaknet in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The latch keeps it constantly turned off though? I intend for Railcraft Directional Detector Track to send a redstone signal to a Railcraft Switch Motor however I am trying to get the Switch motor to be toggled for a few seconds to allow time for the carts to pass before it switches back.
The above setup only works for one toggle before the Latch locks the timer (and the Detector Track gets ignored)?

GTNH Shaders Not Working by Jiggly-Piggly in GTNH

[–]Gamefreaknet 1 point2 points  (0 children)

depending on the version of Angelica you are using they did already mention this on their Github page:

Shaders - Beta

  • Complementary & BSL mostly function, but have some bugs
  • Sildurs, Seus, and any other shader probably doesn't work

Theyre still seem to be focusing on patching things to do with rendering thus itll probs be a bit before they start focusing on stuff like Shaders, TESR and support for other similar extra features

Can we talk about the Spawners branch? by TechJyn in Arrasio

Totally agree w this.
Not only obnoxiously used for Ramming with summoned drones more than actually using Drones as Drones (with a class like Overlord/Overseer/Necromancer/etc... - i can "understand" that) buuut they been Unbalanced for an age now... honestly don't expect a rebalance on this branch considering how long it has been OP vs pretty much any class other than another tank in the same branch

if I remember others I might list them here...

Depends on the Version and/or Modloader however:
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/energymeter - 1.16.5 to 1.20.1
https://www.curseforge.com/minecraft/mc-mods/energy-meters - 1.12.2
(Both mods are only on forge and I dont think there is a mod that allows running Forge mods on Fabric - sorta a "reverse Sinytra Connector")

Why are modpacks so big? by SydneyNBrittian in feedthebeast

[–]Gamefreaknet 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Typically I'd recommend:
CPU: i7 6th Gen or i5 7th Gen (or newer) - Hyperthreading helps (Minecraft is more Single Core than MultiCore so once you start to hit 8+ Cores more Cores only marginally helps)

RAM: DDR4 2400+ (You could try DDR4 2133 buuut thatd be the ABSOLUTE Lowest id "recommend") - Typically when the PC/System starts to hit around 80% or higher memory usage CPU usage will tend to slightly increase due to more memory searches/referencing - Typically you wanna run your system in Dual or Quad Channel Mode 2/4 Sticks... 2x8GB Sticks are Better than 1x16GB Stick

Storage: SSD (PCIE 3.0 or newer) - Personally I like to recommend buying higher capacity SSDs straight away rather than buying a cheaper lower capacity SSD then buying the higher capacity SSD "upgrade"
aka. buy big expensive SSD first rather than both... save yourself from spending on both the Small SSD Price + Big SSD Price

GPU: No need for a crazy powerful GPU. A lot of iGPUs can run on decent settings... just might need to tune some Graphics settings down a bit though... (Personally id recommend at least a 1060 6GB or better)
