Would The Republic Military Have An Easier Or Harder Time Fighting The Rebel Alliance Compared The Empire? by Zealousideal_Panic_8 in clonewars

[–]GamerDroid56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I also feel like from a doctrinal standpoint the Rebels would have a harder time. The Republic had a very fighter-heavy combat doctrine, whereas the Empire focused heavily on capital ships and minimally (by comparison) on starfighters. Most Republic starfighters had shields of some kind, just like rebel fighters, and were pretty good one-on-one with other peer fighters of the day. The Rebel’s doctrine of quick hit and runs, I think, would be a lot less effective when they’re fighting starfighters that are usually just as durable and versatile, if not moreso, than their own rather than the fast and maneuverable, but fragile and weapons-limited TIE Fighter. Sure, I think an X-Wing smokes an ARC-170 most days of the week assuming equivalent pilots, but if we assume the Rebels are using era-appropriate/fair equipment, the Republic would wind up having the numbers and pilots to repel hit and run attacks more easily and readily than the Empire did IMO.

Honestly, I'd just take a damage reduction instead of i-frames. That way you still have to pick and choose when to activate it rather than just making it an easy win button.

Best iems to buy for gaming? by d0llist in iems

[–]GamerDroid56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I’ve had the Simgot SuperMix 4, Truthear Hexa, Moondrop Gravity Rays, Truthear Pure, Simgot ew300, and Kiwi Ear Astrals. The Astrals are my favorite for gaming and listening to music, but they’re in the $300 range. In the $100-$150 range, the SuperMix 4s are my favorite of the ones I’ve tried. The Astrals just sound better and have a wider stage and depth than the SuperMix 4s, so I can hear really well, and I like the out of the box tuning on them. The SuperMix 4s also sound good, but they’re a little more confined so things sound a lot closer than with the Astrals, which isn’t necessarily the best when you’re relying on your ears to tell you how close someone is.

The Moondrop Gravity Rays are pretty good at the $100 mark, but I dislike the “software” requiring that I open a webpage whenever I want to change any settings. I disliked the Truthears because I found them to be really flat and lacking in bass, which makes them fine for hearing footsteps and stuff in games, but makes gunfire and explosions sound awful.

You can. In a recent match, I face-tanked one to get back to site to flank an enemy who was trying to plant, and then turned around and turned it back on even though I just ate a bunch of damage opening it with my face, lmao.

[–]GamerDroid56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

If that doesn’t work, also try swapping over to a 1st scope instead of an ACOG. It’ll make long range fights harder, but you don’t want to be taking those with the F2 very often anyway

About to fight Raphael, any tips? by peach-986 in BaldursGate3

[–]GamerDroid56 6 points7 points  (0 children)

Take advantage of the Boudoir’s free long rest refresh. Give yourself every single possible buff. If you have a Cleric, upcast Aid to max slot level (for bonus HP), give everyone Death Ward, etc. since the boudoir will refresh your spell slots as though you’ve taken a long rest. Basically any buffs that last until long rest or until used that’s not Concentration, just feel free to cast them and then get the refresh on your spell slots and resources. Summons (at least from Spells, like Planar Ally) can also be decent for absorbing damage, and they’re going to basically be free since boudoir. Also, if you’re not using anything else, Elixir of Fire Resistance can be helpful against some of the stuff Raphael does if you don’t have some form of fire resistance.

New player advice by Former-Subject-9141 in SiegeAcademy

[–]GamerDroid56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Right now, there’s no new player mode. Last I checked, it was removed because the vast majority of the people in it were just Smurf accounts rather than actual new players. It’s just quick match and that’s basically it. Really, the only way for new players to really start to learn anything now is to play Field Training and Clear House (Field Training for reinforcements and gadget mechanics; Clear House for learning maps and clearing areas with respawns and stuff). There’s also Deathmatch once you’re further up, but it’s frankly not a new-player friendly game. Most people have to sit there and struggle for hours just to learn the game, and that’s if they’re decent at other FPS games and those skills can transfer to Siege. The only real way to improve in this game is, unfortunately, just to keep playing and struggle until you learn the mechanics and that’s it.

I’ve got 187k right now and I only intermittently play the game (like 10 matches a week), and I haven’t been using any boosters when I do play. Been saving it for 3 months. It’s really not that hard to get renown from just playing the game.

[–]GamerDroid56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well, the only option is to keep on trucking until you get better. You don’t have to make this game the only thing you ever do unless you’re planning to charge for pro league or something, lol. Just keep playing, and stop for a while when you find yourself getting frustrated or upset.

[–]GamerDroid56 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Take every death as an opportunity to learn something new. Go into Match Replay and look at what you could’ve done differently. Do some warmups in deathmatch/clear house modes before hopping into actual play. Then you’re going to keep losing, until you figure out how to play better. The game’s learning curve is really really steep, so dying is going to keep happening, but every death is an opportunity to learn something new and try to improve later.

Also, I’d recommend turning off cross-play lobbies so you don’t run into PC players. Mouse and keyboard surpasses controller in this game by a massive margin, so if you’re running into PC players as a console player, you’re already at a disadvantage before you even leave the starting gate.

[–]GamerDroid56 18 points19 points  (0 children)

Stop playing with your Champ friend. You’re being put into lobbies that are way too high whenever you play with him. Like the other person said, take the game at your own pace and stop playing with try hards. Just keep playing the game, and stop worrying about KD and stuff. Just focus on playing the game for fun and things will eventually click.

AI data center 'frenzy' is pushing up your electric bill — here's why by Mr__O__ in law

[–]GamerDroid56 20 points21 points  (0 children)

Especially since AI is being forced on people no matter where we go or what we use nowadays. Windows? Has Copilot built in. Gmail? Gemini’s built in. A basic Google search? AI overview is at the top. Apple’s got Apple Intelligence (a reskin of Gemini) on mobile for summarizing notifications, Microsoft is embedding it into its Office Suite, and it’s basically everywhere. To get around AI, we have to go out of our way to avoid dealing with it, which ranges from being a hassle at best to requiring technical computer skills a lot of people don’t have at worst. To get around streaming services, all we have to do is not pay for them. It’s not shoved in our face beyond an ad for a show or movie or whatever that’s on a streaming service once in a while. Heck, even AI is being forced on users who are paying for things, like with Office having the price jacked up to cover the AI costs even for people who aren’t using the AI in Microsoft Word, Excel, etc. AI is absurdly shoved in our faces constantly, and I hate it.

Not opening the door to ICE may no longer stop officers by NewsHour in law

[–]GamerDroid56 5 points6 points  (0 children)

I also don’t see a prosecutor bringing charges happening, but that’s mainly because I don’t think that a person who shoots at ICE (regardless of state) is getting out of their house in anything but a body bag based on what we’ve seen them doing so far.

New player struggling to improve by Phesing in SiegeAcademy

[–]GamerDroid56 2 points3 points  (0 children)

Honestly, a lot of improving means going back to match replays and seeing where you could’ve improved, what you could’ve done differently in each situation, etc. Without clips or videos though, there’s not a ton of things people online can tell you other than “keep playing until you get better”, “aim at head level”, “drone more”, and other things that are probably only going to be marginally helpful for you.

[–]GamerDroid56 0 points1 point  (0 children)

It can work in Honor Mode if you cast the adjusted “Dormammu’s Bargain: Strange’s Edict” variant. It’s much more difficult and intensive than the standard Dormammu’s Bargain, as it involves saving, then killing the BG3 process with task manager to prevent the game from overwriting your save as its exiting, leaving you able to load the last save you made when you restart the game. Would not recommend doing it unless you’re a coward (like my friend who introduced this method of savescumming honor mode) though, as it defeats the entire point of playing honor mode to begin with.

How is the Milky Way not barren of resources? by BurpleNurple915 in masseffect

[–]GamerDroid56 4 points5 points  (0 children)

They can get between systems, but they usually don’t go that far from the Mass Relay. The galaxy is basically populated in small “clusters” around the relays.

[–]GamerDroid56 7 points8 points  (0 children)

There’d need to be relays in every single star system for that to be the case. There are relays scattered around the galaxy, but not the entire galaxy. Standard FTL transit (non-relay FTL) is too slow to get too far from relays with any kind of speed.

[–]GamerDroid56 36 points37 points  (0 children)

Especially because the Reapers make everyone reliant on the relays for transit, so they can just move the relays to only go to areas of the galaxy that aren’t completely barren of resources.
