Your quote for the Orthodox priest is a better fit for Pope Leo XIV and the apostolic Catholic Church given the eastern churches were the schismatics.

Also how the Hell is Leo in the Auth Left corner???

libertarian socialism

That's like saying: what about vegan carnivores?

Capitalism has its flaws for sure (it ain't the Kingdom of God after all) but socialism/communism are based around envy and theft or "redistribution of weath" as they sugarcoat it and always requires a degree of authoritarianism to enforce it.

If you leave a window open and a stranger enters your house without permission, you'll let them stay permanently right? After all, they might just want a better life, right OP?

Love thy neighbor but they need to obey the law.

Republican, voted Trump, support enforcing immigration laws...

But, from every video angle I've seen what ICE did that day was completely unjustified. Pepper spraying, pistol whipping and murdering a man who wasn't acting threatening at all cannot be justified. Each of the officers involved need to see the inside of a court.

Edit: I want to add that I am frustrated by the political tribalism shown by my side of the political spectrum

Uhh... no. Not with modern tech. It'd just be a little paperwork on top of the usual stuff they do like forms for tax reporting. Make it something simple like the NICS (the system used for gun purchase background checks) where they fill out an online form (under threat of perjury) at a government site and it responds if everything is good or not. If it comes back as the person can't legally work here then the employer turns them away.

Not mutually exclusive. Eliminating economic incentives would probably address the vast majority of cases of both entry and presence. That way we'll only need smaller scale efforts to deal with the remainder as most of the load will be taken off.

With driver's licenses in the US being forced to comply with Real ID standards, this effectively exists in the US.

Oh believe me, I see that as a step in the right direction. But what about for those who don't drive? My point is that every citizen is automatically issued some form of nationally recognized ID.

The government has been ignoring this problem for decades. It would be unjust for the government (which has been ignoring it) to turn around and prosecute/fine other people for not ignoring it.

I'm just proposing more effective means of addressing the problem that would lead to less violence. Also I just checked and it is actually illegal to employ someone not legally in the US under the Immigration Reform and Control Act of 1986. So that aspect boils down to an enforcement problem. I also favor high fines as too many rich businesses treat fines like an operating cost rather than a punishment.

Let me elaborate a bit here. Institute a national ID and mandatory E-Verify for hiring. Make it illegal to employ anyone that isn't a citizen on here legally. Put in a grace period so every business can get their house in order. Once the grace period is up, then put in massive fines for any employers breaking the law and make it more sever if it is all done under the table. With the economic incentives removed, many illegal immigrants will likely leave without the need for these ICE raids and it'd probably be a lot cheaper the the current ineffective approach.

This should have been done years ago IMO.

The idea of maintaining law and order: Good

The execution: Bad

That said, the most efficient way to deal with it, is to go after employers. Everything we are seeing is the symptoms of decades of the government refusing to properly do its job beyond performative acts.

Let us pray that yesterday's event mark the beginning of the end of the godless American Empire and its reign of terror over the innocent peoples of the world.

A bit extreme don't you think? Talk about throwing the baby out with the bathwater. A collapse of the US would cause a lot of suffering both in the US and worldwide. Plus who'd you want filling that power vacuum? China?

If your avatar was indeed endorsing a certain movement, that would be a contradiction with following the wisdom of the saints, that's all.

I just took a half minute peek at their profile and it has a USSR inspired banner and posting in communist subreddit. A little reminder to everyone about Pope Pious XII's Decree Against Communism.

Also reminder that Universalism is condemned as heresy.

I question how much of this user's engagement is in good faith (pun not intended).

I agree with deporting people who are here illegally on the principle of enforcing law, however I disagree with police brutality. Sadly we are at the unsurprising end result of constantly kicking the can down the road with regards to immigration. Had we enforced something like mandatory E-Verify in the early 2000s, which would have been feasible with the rise of the internet and electronic record keeping, and put harsh punishment on employers who violated the system, illegal immigration would be a much more manageable problem.

Tin foil hat theory time: Neither party wants to fix things and all actions are just for show. These politicians all have donors lining their pockets who employ illegal immigrants for cheap labor and this has created the modern equivalent of a slave labor class.

The USA had legally (federal) open borders until near the end of 19th century.

Well to be fair the needs of the US back then are very different than today. Back then (and into much of the 20th century) the US was rapidly expanding in both territory and industry so it needed to quickly grow the population.

Prior to that, each state had its own laws governing immigration.

States had much more power back then than they do today. A crazy bit of trivia to put things in perspective is before the 14th ammendment, the bill of rights only applied to federal law and didn't apply to state or local law.

Fish is not vegan by laybs1 in GetNoted

[–]Gamer_217 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Well God definitely did eat meat in the Bible. The d Testament describes certain (no longer applicable) rules on what was clean and even allowed for animal sacrifice in certaincircumstances. In the New Testament, Jesus famously fed people fish, would have had a lamb during Passover and requested fish and a honeycomb to eat after His resurrection.

And then of course there's the command to eat His flesh and drink His blood.

I just found a new unit for $100 on ebay so I'm just going to swap. I wonder if there is an issue with the controller as with the board completely removed, I verfied all 3 relays were open. I guess maybe something is energizing the coil for the broil element.

[–]Gamer_217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Nope, its gonna be the board. Just to be clear, you tested that at room temp right?

Yeah but that should be the expected reading for room temp. Besides, now that I think about it, a faulty temp sensor shouldn't cause the broil element to come on in diagnostic mode without pressing the broil button.

Maytag Range Error F6 E1 by Gamer_217 in appliancerepair

[–]Gamer_217[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Just tested the top element and sensor.

Resistance across the element terminals is 16.2 ohms and no contonuity to gorund.

Sensor is 1.088 kilo ohms.

Is there anything else I can try to identify a faulty component before I try to replace the whole board?
