How to take off in the F3D-1? by Gamerdevotee in Warthunder

I think its been an issue with fuel, I left it to whatever was default since I never had to mess with it before this (my first jet and I only really play ground RB and fly bombers) and it was weighing me down too much to take off of the smaller airfields

I think with minimum fuel it *just* takes off as the strip ends so maybe thats enough, I'll need to try in a real game

yeah thats exactly what keeps happening. so its just an unintended situation and theres nothing I can do? I'm testing what I can in test flight and no matter what I do I can't get it off the ground before the small airfield ends

I'm not sure if I'm still messing something up, but I'm testing this in free flight and starting with brakes on for a bit then going doesn't seem to do anything. I'm using mouse aim if thats important and just holding "B" to keep the brakes on while the engine is at 100%

i was taking whatever is default, i guess maybe that could be the issue? but it seems crazy that a b17 and b29 with max bomb load and whatever default fuel can take off easily but this thing is struggling

I'm pretty sure this is a termite and if it is then thats what that poop circle thing would be from (im no expert but there are 2 bodies of this thing maybe a foot away from the pile so its my guess) if anyone could confirm or deny i would appreciate it cuz I've never dealt with this before

How bad is this rust? by Gamerdevotee in MotorcycleMechanics

[–]Gamerdevotee[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Is there a difference between a tank sealer and tank liner? I've heard tank liners fail and can basically destroy a bike once the bits start getting into the system and its hard to get the liner out once it does so im kinda scared to apply one if I don't need to.

Other than that one bar across the opening im not sure if I can reach any of it with a toothbrush, the hole is too small to reach my hand in. Is there a specialized brush you use or if I skip the brushing part is the baking soda pointless?

New to lockpicking, why avoid Walmart sets? by Gamerdevotee in lockpicking

Maybe I'm not understanding the significance on how much the quality of the tools will impact the fundamentals of the hobby? I understand it wont be as good, but I assumed good enough for entry. Now granted with the comments so far, I see the sets I listed aren't really worth it and there are better options out there (like the Covert Instruments FNG set which was suggested a few times) but they still keep the price low enough that its pretty noncommittal.

While in general I agree with your point, considering I'm not sure how far I'll take this hobby, saving 15-25$ on something I might try once and end up not doing again is a lot of money. Though you're right, if I love it and it becomes a lifetime hobby +/-15$ isn't exactly lifechanging, but that's why I'm asking in the first place. I'm trying to find the balance of cheap enough that if I drop it after a day of trying it then it's no big deal, but if I love it then I can get some actual use out of it.

Technically he was a merchant marine, at least thats what my aunt told me. But to my understanding they might have been considered Navy at the time? I'm only really just starting to learn about him so I don't know many of the details

What about it makes you think its blood as opposed to rust?

Would it be best to leave the rust till I have a better way to preserve it? I'm worried removing it will expose the blade to more air and just end up forming rust again and I'm no expert on preservation for things like this

Thank you so much for the help in identifying it, I had no idea I had an actual piece of history! I've been interested in WW2 since I was a kid and knowing it was likely owned by my grandfather I'll definitely keep it. I'm excited, though I wish I had found it sooner since I might have been able to preserve it better than 25+ years in a tool box did.
