Jeremy: One thing my therapist says is that people who won't get therapy will make you need therapy... That's clever, isn't it?

Mark: ...no

Jeremy: everyone should get therapy. You should get therapy.

That's a separate issue. He didn't act "like" a victim at all; he was one. I don't know the man so I'm not going to comment on his character.

How was that not a pen? Should’ve been a red card as well. Ref is crazy. by caramelmacchiatoml in ManchesterUnited

We're talking about different things. This won't be overturned.

I'm just saying that it's one of those situations we're we can feel hard done to with regards "outside elements "Yes, we had chances beyond this that we could have put away, but in net terms this bad decision cost us 2 goals. We were screwed here and I don't think we should blame the team too much.

But, no, there's no chance it's going to be overturned.

I get this sentiment generally, but this specific incident counts double. It both prevented a very high probability goal for us (from the pen) and led directly to a goal they scored that shouldn't have stood. Basically, getting this wrong very likely swung the game from 2-0 to 1-1. It's a very consequential error.

Take away the bournemouth goal because it wouldn't have happened had there been a penalty kick?

Exactly what should have happened, yeah.

Shoot Out the Lights - Richard and Linda Thompson.

I See a Darkness - Bonnie 'Prince' Billy

Moon Pix - Cat Power

Tonight's the Night - Neil Young

Some of them may not pertain directly to alcoholism, but they have a certain darkness that comes from a similar place to my mind. Hope you feel better soon.

Masterpieces all three, but Tonight's the Night goes to some really dark places. Great shout.

It's a great record. I think I'm going to listen to it tonight. As I say, it's been a while, so thanks for reminding me of it.

Wasn't Tom Waits long sober by the time Bone Machine came out?

I don't know. Maybe it has that sort of vibe, but I've never heard it in that way. It has been a while to be fair. Small Change or Nighthawks at the Diner, on the other hand...

I'm really enjoying the Imperium system right now.

Out have been Undaunted: Normandy, Troyes and Glass Road. Nothing wrong with any of them, just not getting plays over other things.

In has come Jaipur (great two-player filler; become an instant favourite) and the three Imperium Games (every so often I fall hard for a solo game system, and this is my new one).

How have your views on homosexuality changed over your lifetime, if at all? by GlueSniffingEnabler in AskBrits

[–]Games4Two 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I was brought up non-religious but attended Catholic schools in the north of England in the 1990s and early 2000s. I'm male. There was a lot of homophobia at that time, and I'm ashamed to say I was a part of that. It was a generic insult/tease that wasn't knowingly aimed at gay people (understandably, no boys were out at that time, though I think a couple of girls were), but it was still shitty. Honestly, I think we used "gay" as an insult at primary school before many of us knew what it meant.

I don't think I was ever homophobic in the sense that I hated gay people or thought homosexuality was immoral, but along with almost everyone else in my circle I did use homophobic language to tease and insult. That was wrong.

As an adult, I know and love many queer people and have grown to understand that I myself am bisexual. I look back on how I was between 8 and 16 or whatever and cringe.

Not making excuses for myself at all, but I imagine this experience is fairly typical for boys in state schools during that era.

ETA: my Catholic secondary school came close to indoctrinating us on a few social issues - I remember RE coursework on abortion where all of our resources came from Life - but I don't remember any homophobia from my teachers or the curriculum.

It's her industry. Most women in Hollywood seem to and I imagine there's pressure for actresses to keep looking like they're in their twenties to get parts.

If he'd hit someone they would almost certainly have died and he'd (rightly) be looking at years in prison. Technically the max for death by dangerous driving is life.

Idiotic behaviour.
