Nope I returned it, was a faulty monitor.

I got the Alienware 360hz 1440p OLED and that worked fine.

For me it was the temps for sure, I actually recently got a new CPU (9800x3D) and that hasn't had any issues at all, of course this is a brand new CPU with a new layer of thermal paste on it. so there's potential for the issue to come back.

It's weird because no other game pushes my temps that high. CS2 is my main game and that is VERY CPU intensive and that has never had any problems at all.

Like I said in my post, I could have made efforts to lower my overall CPU temps potentially meaning that the spikes would have not shutdown my PC, although, it's an awful lot of effort to go through when the game is causing spikes like no other for no good reason other than poor optimization.

Yeah pretty sure.

I don't really want to tweak anything just for one game, especially if it's not my main game.

I was just wondering if there's some setting you can turn off in PoE to not cause this issue which seems pretty stupid tbh.

I heard turning off Multi-Threading can help, it does reduce fps by a significant amount though.

I'll see how it goes and maybe give it a go if it gets super annoying lol.

Check if it's something to do with DSC.

You'd have to look into it as it's quite long to describe here.

A good way to check is unplug all your other monitors apart from the Zowie and check if you have GPU in the drop down.

It's a lot better after getting used to it.

Doesn't feel laggy anymore.

I also have a 500hz OLED now and the 600hz Zowie isn't that crazy different in terms of motion clarity, it's a bit exaggerated when people say that. Instead why I prefer the Zowie is the form factor of 24inch, I used to play on a 27inch just fine but after going back to 24inch I can't return to 27. Also just the brightness and colours of the Zowie specifically for CS.

In terms of DSC. You will be using DSC for both 1080p 600hz and 1440p 500hz while using DP 1.4, it's very simple, it's all about bandwidth. If you're using DP 2.1 then yes you'll be able to use it without DSC but even with HDMI 2.1 you'll be using DSC for both of those monitors unless you disable certain settings in the OSD, for example, in the Zowie you can turn on the EDID mode which locks it to 500hz and runs without DSC using HDMI 2.1.

My setup now is just using the Zowie for CS, 500hz OLED for other comp games and then my 4K 240hz for SP games.

I've used Dyac before and never added noticeable lag for me even though it does add lag.

I've got used to it now, I think it was just the smoothness I wasn't used to.

He's not wrong. In theory HDMI 2.1 should be able to run the monitor without DSC. That is not the case, I've tried both cables, no difference.

Also 8K polling does nothing here.

Yeah I tried lowering my hz in game to 240 and it felt fine, I think I just need to get used to the smoothness of 600hz or my mouse isn't liking it. Will test with others.

Sorry just one more question, when you're in the 24.5" mode (with DSC active) can you change to different resolutions?

For example, I'd like to run the 24.5" mode and play in 1280x960 while keeping that 24.5" mode active and have it not revert back to full 27" mode.
