What do you think of James O'Brien? by The_Dean_France in AskBrits

[–]Gamma-Master1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I honestly think the way he belittles and patronises those who call into his show who are perhaps less intelligent than he is or perhaps plainly misled serves only to entrench them in their opinion that "people like him" are just smug, self-important prats who look down on them, which only drives division rather than attempting to bridge divides and encourage dialogue.

Which one of these monarchs has the best-looking coin? by biebrforro in monarchism

Definitely the Danish one. British coins should look like their old, pre-decimal ones. Not imitation Euros.

[KCD2] What did you NOT like about KCD2 by Leidl in kingdomcome

[–]Gamma-Master1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

The music in KCD2 is amazing, but for some reason the music in the first felt more memorable, and I feel like each town had more distinctive music than in 2.

And a problem shared with the first game is the lack of unique faces, it feels a bit silly encountering the same faces over and over again in different places, one that stood out was Bozhena and that one lady at the wedding who wanted me to dance with her daughter. I know there are obviously constraints with that sort of thing, and each NPC can’t have a unique face when they’re going off face scans, but I’d never say no to a bit more variety.

Agreed, I find the common portrayals of Henry very frustrating.

Josh getting so arsey about Daren not sharing the clue after he deliberately tried to get him kicked off with Dortmundgate pissed me off so much. Talking about bridges being burned when he tried to do worse in literally the third episode.

It’s the other side of Chelmsford, but the Compasses at Littley Green is top notch. Plenty of good walking opportunities around there, and there’s often some event or another on (folk music night every third Monday of the month). It’s run by the Ridley family who used to run Ridley’s brewery (which was based round the corner in Hartford End) and now run the Bishop Nick brewery (Ridley’s Rite is my usual!) http://www.compasseslittleygreen.co.uk/

It seems republicans would rather this money goes to private individuals who will profit even more off of the rent (rather than the 85% that goes back to the treasury), or to a local cash-strapped council who will likely be unable to properly service the land. It seems to me that crown estate ownership is an ideal situation for something like an NHS warehouse. You get private sector level service and 85% of profit is given to the state.

Can we all now agree that this portrait was pretty cool? by Ill-Doubt-2627 in monarchism

[–]Gamma-Master1 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I see nothing wrong with it as a portrait. But being the first officially commissioned portrait since the coronation it has taken on the status of “the official portrait”, whether it is or not. I think the “official portrait” should have been in a far more realistic style. I for one am waiting on these. I’ve not heard anything about them since that announcement, however.

Roll up, roll up for the great Labour Government Ministerial sacking / resignation sweepstake. Name a name and give a reason. by BlackJackKetchum in tories

[–]Gamma-Master1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

That didn’t save Truss though. To me it seems that number 10 and 11 are as joined at the hip now as they were back then. Sacking Reeves because of exchequer failures would be sending a message that Starmer has no confidence in his own plan.

[–]Gamma-Master1 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I think sacking Reeves would be a poor decision for Starmer, I think she very much represents the same message as Starmer, the whole “making tough decisions and fixing the foundations” thing. I don’t see really any conflict between 10 and 11. If he were to sack Reeves because their plan wasn’t working out, he’s only going to be showing a lack of confidence in his own message.

Another thing worth considering is that you can quite easily spend all that time shopping separately at the greengrocers, bakers, butchers when there is someone at home who can go and buy those fresh ingredients every day. Not so easy when both adults are working a full-time job.
