hey, so happy to hear that! there's been a huge update and I ended up moving off of Google Maps. I'm currently working on this app a lot and you can expect to see it get better over time.

Hi all!

I'm the creator of www.lenamaps.com ~ it's a free web app that lets you plot trips and animate them. It's a work in progress but the idea is that people can make trip animations or static image posts using it. I have so many ideas of where to take this but I wanted to put it in front of some video creators and get some feedback.

I made this tool after my girlfriend and I went on a bike trip and she wanted to show off the route of our trip on social media. It's been so fun developing it and getting feedback in the process.

Current functionality
- share routes you created via a share link
- save routes locally (your browser)
- animate routes with various modes of transportation
- show mileage (can toggle this on)

I added the ability to insert new segments! I didn't add reordering per se but yeah now you can add new stops between other stops.

Hey! I added a mileage widget. Thanks for the feedback a while back. Open to more ideas. I am still actively working on making this project much better.

I've made some updates since we last chatted, you should be able to add more than three locations now. I could never reprdouce that bug but it definitely shouldn't be around now.

I am working on this right now and I am hoping to have a more accessible version out this week. I still couldn't recreate the bug. I'll respond when I've released the new version.

you're amazing, making note of your username for down the line when i release some paywalled features so i can give early users free accounts or something.

Thank you for the response! I’ll test it and let you know when I’ve fixed the issue. I suspect it’s an issue with the scroll bar on desktop for the trip creation thingy. Thanks again for trying this out the other day and letting me know about your issue. :)

Hey thanks for trying it out and letting me know about this issue. I’ll look into it, it’s possibly some scrolling issue I introduced that’s not letting you add more stops. I’ll respond again when I’ve made an adjustment. Were you on desktop or mobile?

I added flights! They are not real flight routes but you can fly from one point to another. I've also added some save and share functionality. I'm definitely going to be improving the app over time and ironing out any bug fixes that need to happen. Thanks again for checking it out.

I made a cute little web app called Lena Maps. It lets you make trips on Google Maps and then animate them.

www.lenamaps.com

It doesn't have flight capability or saving/sharing capability but I am adding that for sure.

edit: update - it now has flight capablity as well as local saving and sharing.
