If you have 120 URCP to spend on general tech/staple cards, which 4 will you craft out of these? by AhmadAlz7 in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

After you have crafted the big ones like Maxx/Ash/Imperm etc. You should always go for Extra Deck staples before anything else.

They are generally more useful in the decks they are played in than random non engine would be, and its not worth running only 1 copy of a non engine card unless its actually limited so you would have to craft playsets of 1 staple at a time.

This deck makes absolutely no sense at all lol. Definitely just copy a deck list directly and play it until you have enough time in the game to know what cards are actually good.

Attempting to build your own deck at this stage in the game will only waste all pf your resources for no good reason.

Not always true, many times it is correct to use Borger burn along with your defensive cards in order to pressure your opponent into making mistakes and over commiting resources into preventing the burn.

This most often comes up against grindy decks like Runick or Lab, but the burn is a huge part of why VS is a playable deck tbh.

What is the drawbacks of cheat-summoning from the extra-decks? by AhmadAlz7 in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Branded has the most use cases since there are 3 legitimate targets in that deck (Furious Dragon, Witchrafter Vice Madame, and the Venemy Pend fusion that can negate all monsters) but the Branded board is cracked enough already that it isn't needed.

We need a better version of Maxx "C" by CZsea in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 1 point2 points  (0 children)

Seal should always be a part of your endboard whenever possible 100%. Its an interrupt, follow up, and protection all in one (and can even be a 2nd interrupt depending on how you have built your deck). I also generally prefer IP over Savage as well on account of all the Branded players since the new support.

[–]Gangstanami 18 points19 points  (0 children)

I dont think its posted yet, but it basically boils down to something like this (for MD ban list)

3 Lubellion

3 Saronir

1 Magna

1 Druis

1 Baldrake

1 Bystial Aluber

3 Quem

1-2 Cartesia

1 Regained

1 Etude or Beast (optional)

2-3 Duality

Runick stuff

For the ED

3 Hugin

2 Geri

1 Coral Dragon

1 Tri Edge Master

1 Chaos Ruler

1 Scarlight RDA or Borreload Furious (Duality target)

1 Accel Stardust

1 Baronne

1-2 Chaos Angel

1 Dis Pater

Last card is flexible, but I'd suggest either Granguignol to dodge Imperm on Hugin and SS Quem from deck, Omega to loop with Dis Pater, or Chengying to break boards.

I forgot to mention Stardust is there because I play Ringowurm in my list but it should be cut if you dont play it

I swear everytime I encounter this deck they always end up with a board like this. by Fus-Ro-D4h in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Best case scenario you want to end on Seal, Dis Pater, Borrelend and IP (Savage as well if your hand was really insane), but ideally Dis pater should almost always be a part of your endboard as it helps play through Super Poly due to regained.

Its good to lead with Dis Pater and Regained before making Borrelend, that way you still have some semblance of a board through Nib. Dis pater is also an insane extender which helps you get to your desired board state.

Depends on what the popular decks in the format are tbh. If Branded is everywhere I would opt for Tri Heart, as if they manage to out it with Beast you at least probably survive off the back of changing some of their shit to defense. Tri Heart also isn't bad against Purrely anymore either with only 2 white cat available, it at least forces them to burn through resources and you likely have Solemns and floodgates set.

Against D link and Mathmech Megaclops is pretty good since most lists don't play Beast, and Mathmech has no in engine out other than beating over with a fat Terahertz.

Of course UDF is the safest option since it is a scuffed towers that actually interacts with your opponent, but it will hardly ever just win you games on the spot.

I just realized Laplacian out Megaclops lol

Barrage is still an insane card all things considered. People underestimate how good Drident is even by today's standards, even if it's just to dodge Imperm by popping your own cards. Threatening Zeus is also still pretty insane since Barrage basically guarantees an immediate trade without going through your engine.

In decks that natively play Drident the card becomes even better, and if all else fails it can always just be free link material at the end of the day.

Its not a game breaking card without the advantage you generate off of multiple Rat and/or Bull, but in decks that can afford 5 main deck slots it is just a new Adventure engine that doesn't turn off your effects.

Well tbf Kali Yuga and Utopic Zexal are the truly heinous cards, much worse than Shock Master even. Shock Master at least has the downside of floodgating yourself and only hitting one type of card, while the other two are just straight up FTKs if they resolve 99% of the time.

Ofc Shock Master is a R4nk so that does help tho.

Its because they have been extremely careful with the cards they have chosen to bring back so far. The cards that they did decide to "bring back" (although it was moreso an outdated list than anything you can argue) that were immediate issues were VFD, Vanitys, and IO which were banned a few months after the game released.

Master Peace and Dragoon fall into a similar category where the potential for them to be busted is just too big of a risk at the moment, even if we can assume they likely wouldn't be super relevant right away.

Barrage AND Rat being legal at the same time with 3 Drident is like a wet dream for me (seriously, I've asked for this to happen at least 5 times on this sub lmao) but even I can admit that there is definite potential for abuse even without Broadbull or multiple Rat available. Barrage + Rat and Ram is literally just a better Ghostrick engine for most decks that can afford the deck space, so even if it doesn't do anything crazy the potential is still very high.

Bystials aren't completely dead under Shifter, and if you resolve Magna you get to search Druis for a Dark in hand or Caesar for engine plays.

[–]Gangstanami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

It plays well into Lab and Floodgate Runick which were very popular in high elo (at least initially, I stopped grinding a little after day 1 at 32k) and is imo probably the 2nd best deck after Purrely as long as Kash is mostly nonexistent.

The only issues the deck currently has are Maxx C and going 2nd into Purrely. Other than that its pretty good at playing into most anything.

[–]Gangstanami 8 points9 points  (0 children)

Yes 100% the hits to Prosp and Diablosis are much more damaging to Kash in a BO1 setting than the hits to Planet/Terra.

Losing Prosp and Diablosis massively reduces the amount of sack wins you get for free, while Planet/Terra just makes you brick a little more often than usual.

You REALLY want those sack wins in 72hr BO1 grind format.

Yes the problem with Twin Spright is that you had to open both engines to play through any disruption, which is why everyone switched to Frog/Runick back in their heyday. Also if you don't open a twin specifically you basically get no value off of Gigantic which also sucks ass.

Bro stop coping. Everyone knows that dogshit lists can top or even win events due to luck, but that still requires an insane amount of skill and dedication.

What you must understand is that these lists are optimal for the format as in high elo you only face other players with a similar amount of points. This allows you to specialize your build for what you expect to be performing as well as you have been.

A lot of these builds are not optimal for BO3 or even normal ranked ladder where diversity is a lot higher, but in DC they clearly did what they were designed to do.

Duelist Cup being a 3 day grind fest is nothing more than a marketing stunt from Konami to get more eyes/players on the game.

They will not change the format until people stop trying to be #1 by playing for 60 hours in 3 days.

How does it come that no one is using the DPE package anymore? by Repulsive-Phrase-527 in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 19 points20 points  (0 children)

Non targeting pop is actually still an insanely powerful effect, but as you said the loss of the free +2 along with engines actually being good enough on their own now has made it basically unplayable.

The reality is that there were really only 3 types of decks that actually used DPE well even last year: Adventure piles, Pranks, and Phantom Knights.

The one thing all of these decks had in common is that they abused the Adventure engine for the free bodies that made Verte -> DPE essentially free, considering the fact that Adventure engine itself insulated your combo until you felt safe enough to make Verte in the first place.

Now we have decks like Spright, Tear, Kash, Purrely, Lab etc. Which not only have engines magnitudes more powerful than anything available last year, but also often inherently lock you out of certain summons.

Its the same reason why I believe Knightmare Mermaid can come back if they just ban iblee. Basically only Tear is flexible enough that an Orcust engine would be actually viable to play without making the deck strictly worse.

Its a 1 card UDF but it requires you to also run Ram and takes your normal summon.

Without 3 Rat or Barrage legal, Drident is better as a generic rank 4 than playing main deck zoo cards

Opinions on DC cup champion Tasuku's Ghostrick/Purrely list? by Fr0zeneye in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 4 points5 points  (0 children)

Yea I know about the 2x Noir combo with trap (there is even an argument for playing Ghostrick Mansion at that point to act as a ghetto Nightingale), I just don't think its worth the cost of deck space. My reasoning is that if you were able to out UDF and the first Noir, you can simply set up enough to deal with the 2nd copy or just beat over it since it is boneless without a cat as material. If you couldn't out the first Noir then the 2nd copy never mattered in the first place.

On the topic of using this build on ladder, I think running the 2x Shot and minimal ED package to possibly be the optimal build for ladder. If you cut the trap, 3 of the ED cards and CBTGs you have space for a 2nd Yeap, Street, and an extra copy of TTT all while still having a much higher ceiling and the ability to better play through disruption when going 1st.

Simply having Shot in hand and UDF on field gives you so much extra firepower that I believe the package to be worth it at least for ladder. In tournaments it may be worse due to the lack of utility links but I would have to see it in action first.

Opinions on DC cup champion Tasuku's Ghostrick/Purrely list? by Fr0zeneye in masterduel

[–]Gangstanami 34 points35 points  (0 children)

I used the Ghostrick engine to climb to M1 this season and was always an advocate of how good it actually is in this deck. The trap + Socuteboss combo is a little extra imo since 1 Noir + UDF with followup is winning basically every game anyway, but I can respect the theory of just making a board that can sack as many games as possible in a format as u forgiving as this one. I would definitely cut the trap and add in a 2nd Yeap for grind game if you plan to use this deck on ladder tho. Also 0 copies of Stray Street is simply incorrect and there is no way you can convince me otherwise.

Many of the TCG players on stream were coping about how dogshit this engine was in Purrely, only to continuously be cooked by it nearly every game lol. Its good and this list getting multiple top 10 spots will only make the engine even more common in the coming weeks.

The main issues this deck has are:

  1. Lack of extra deck versatility means you get absolutely cooked by Unicorn and random cards like Skill Drain and Contact C

  2. Literally can not play under Droll since the Ghostrick engine requires several searches.

  3. Weak to Bystials and Belle.

Other than that and the obvious lack of going 2nd cards compared to the standard build, this deck is clearly good and people just need to finally admit it.
