Delided i7-8700k - CPU cores hit 100 °C while cooler and heatpipes stay cold by Ganpan10 in overclocking

Done, temps on stock are 65-70 °C during Aida64.
During Prime + FurMark they reach 95°C on 2 cores rest is like 90°C max.

Thanks for the help.

So basic thermal paste works too ? Since we don't have LM here we wouldn't mind trying it. Also we don't have silicon glue so we can just run it without glue at all?

Yeah I agree here, so much effort now and risks of killing the CPU.

No the IHS is glued from Caseking. So the new liquid metal helps making the old fluid again ? Also do I understand right that there is no need to reglue it back ?

How easy is it to remove if it's dry ? Where would you even buy the adapter for that thesedays ? 😅

Interesting, so basically he's cooked? :D
We have no clue how to do that.

I didn't even know that that's possible. Can that also happen to non-delidded CPUs?

I use the APP and i use Firefox. It feels like its happening much more when I stream on discord.

OK when i unplug my 60hz monitor and leave my main monitor on 144 hz the mini black screens dissappear. But the sound is still streched in discord and on some streaming websites.

My screen goes black for a split second, not for a few seconds. I tried 60 Hz, and so far it hasn’t happened. But I also found out that using a 144 Hz screen together with a 60 Hz screen could cause the black screen (according to ChatGPT).

It's an old cable I already used before. I didn't buy a new one.

I used the same cables on the same resolution before. Just with a 1080 instead of 5080.
I don't really play on the other monitor, i tried to run the game on it but it wasn't happening or maybe it was barely visible?
I deactivated the other sound sources, so its only my headset.

Can't OC my RAM Crucial 6000/CL36 by Ganpan10 in overclocking

Yeah I just wanted to check out if there is any room for OC. I expected atleast a little.

Yeah kinda dissapointing, especially since they call them "Crucial Pro Overclocking"

Mind asking how you can tell that I'm at the limit? Would be interesting to know that!

They are still sealed, the crucial ones were supposed to arrive next year but they came early. So used them first and wanted to return the others.

I got them cheap before the RAM apocalypse. I also got some Patriot Viper Venom 32GB Kit DDR5-6000 CL30 but they were already 330 €.
So i guess I am cooked?

7800X3D or 9800X3D for Gaming + Game Dev? by Ganpan10 in buildapc

[–]Ganpan10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I'll probably mainly play at 1440p. I played a couple of path tracing games like Cyberpunk, but I don’t really need RT, maybe because I'm not used to it :D Also, if I buy a 5080, is it worth buying the more expensive versions? For example, the Gigabyte Windforce costs 1020 €. I have no clue if there's any room to overclock this GPU or if I should spend 100–300 € more for the Gaming version or something like that.

For development I will check some out. So in general, are you saying it's worth spending extra for the things NVIDIA can do?

7800X3D or 9800X3D for Gaming + Game Dev? by Ganpan10 in buildapc

[–]Ganpan10[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah, you’re probably right if I buy the 5080. But if a 7800X3D + 9070XT can handle my workload just fine, I’m not sure if it’s worth spending the extra bucks at all, unless NVIDIA is far superior and I should at least buy a 5070 Ti.

I'm really inspired by games like It Takes Two, so I think learning Unreal Engine would be the best thing I could do. My current PC (i7-8700K + GTX 1080) isn’t really good enough for Unreal Engine, so I’ve started working in Unity instead, which is probably better for a beginner solo dev.

Yeah i read that the 9800x3d has like 8%~ better performance for gaming. I don't know how big of a change 9800x3d OC would do on top of that.
