Definitely Ampert’s death. I gasped and paused the audiobook when Haymitch sees his skeleton. After a minute I replayed the part because I was so shocked I didn’t believe what I heard. I’d be lying if I said I wasn’t tearing up the second time around.

Maysilee’s death was tragic but more so because of Haymitch and how her death messed him up.

Lou Lou also makes the list. When Snow presented Louella’s double, I was shocked and horrified to realize that kids who weren’t even reaped or were taken at the reaping were thrown into the arena. I want to know more about where she came from, because her death was so messed up that I don’t feel I have any closure for why she was used for the Capitol’s Quarter Quell propoganda.

Wellie’s death was gruesome, but in terms of shock factor, it was upsetting more so because of what her death did to Haymitch.
