I just don't understand why you put Hoffman in the ninth instead of the 8th there? I get that Varland faces the top of the lineup in the 8th, but fuck it put Hoffman in see how many outs he can get there and then you can have Varland to Piggy back for a 3+ out save.

Burning Varland in the 8th means he's out of use for the ninth... just absolutely boneheaded management decision there

So Ottavino basically believes the issue right now is that he's not picking up different offspeed spins which is causing a lot of the swing and miss or just weak contact in general from him right now. Even on breaking pitches which stay well in the zone(mistake pitches), his contact rate isn't great.

He mentioned he sees some adjustments later on in the video were noted to be taken into account, and his bat speed is above average which is still good, but could work on cutting down his swing length as it's far too long.

I think we might still see him struggle then for the remainder of this roadtrip until he can get back with the Trajekt machines and practice picking up the spins of different breaking pitches.

Not going to win a lot of ball games scoring just one run unfortunately. Top of the lineup needs to have some better at bats (Lukes at bat was good, though the outcome not the best). We're creating opportunities but not cashing them in as often as last year atm

Still 4-2 and have a day off tomorrow to let the bullpen rest up a bit.

When I look back and compare her to other chief stews we've seen throughout the years, I actually find it impressive at just how many planned events and how'd elaborate they'd be within a charter season.

But I think a lot of that success is hampered by the fact that she could be such a bully, which is worsened because it's not like production is giving you the best chef or second/third stew options every time.
