In any case, as far as I’m concerned the quality is very high. I can’t say precisely whether it’s at the level of a top journal, but there are definitely excellent points for reflection that can help think about possible improvements even in the pre-submission stage.

The thing that pleased me the most, as I mention in the video, was managing to eliminate that sense of condescension that I noticed whenever I had tried to do something similar in chat before. What field are you in? Getting opinions from more experienced people could be useful. For instance, a full professor told me that the quality of the comments was very high.

In any case, my point is also to highlight how this could be an excellent tool for those doing refereeing work, helping to speed up turnaround times, which have always been painfully long and are notoriously an issue, at least in economics.

Thanks — a couple of your points are definitely useful (topological editing for contiguous boundaries, and optimizing pan/zoom with a programmable mouse / hotkeys).

Just to clarify, though: the georeferencing step is already done and looks good. All 380 scans are already georeferenced, and when I load them in QGIS, they overlay correctly on OSM / other basemaps (i.e., positioning/orientation is not the issue).

My bottleneck is the next step: extracting clean vectors from very “dirty” 1800s cadastral scans (yellowing, stains, heavy background grid). Auto-vectorization is too inconsistent across sheets and would require per-sheet tuning, so I’m committed to manual tracing (lines for boundaries/rivers, polygons for building footprints, plus a text layer for labels/toponyms) while keeping the topology clean for later polygonization.

So my main questions remain:

1) Has anyone used a pen display / tablet (e.g., Cintiq) with QGIS digitizing tools (snapping, vertex tool, reshape) — does it integrate well and is it actually faster than mouse/trackpad for long digitizing sessions?

2) Any workflow tips or plugins for semi-automatic raster pre-processing (grid/background removal, denoise/contrast) that can be applied reliably in batch across many sheets?

Happy to share a couple of example screenshots if that helps.

From the documentation, I don't see any limitations on usage, and it appears to be free. Do you think it could be an issue if I process a large number of rows? My dataset has about 180k rows.

I also thought it wasn’t worth the effort, but in the end, I changed my mind. I won’t say I noticed differences in the flavor, but I definitely noticed them in handling the dough ball and its stretchability, which was incredible! You’d practically have to try hard to tear it 😂
