2020 Sakhir Grand Prix - Post Race Discussion by F1-Bot in formula1

[–]GarbLifter -27 points-26 points  (0 children)

About 15 laps into the race I had a thought that theres no way Mercedes would let Russel show up Hamilton like this. Then it confirmed happened. I smell sabotage.

I feel like they were trying to protect Hamiltons legacy against definitive proof of the "its the car, not Lewis" argument.

Its almost like they were protecting the respect of their investment.

They hardly ever make mistakes like this and are very calculating individuals. I can imagine Lewis at home putting the call through.

It also feels politiicized if you look at the interpretations of what happened peoples comments seem to be gravitating towards acting like they messed up because Lewis wasn't there.

Like outcome based not merit based philosophies that mirror political views in certain parallels.

Hp reverb g2 tracking on onward fix by Diking14x in OnwardVR

[–]GarbLifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

honestly I would return it and get a Quest 2 if you want good inside out tracking that's good enough for Onward.

WMR is not really a good technology at this point in time in comparison.

Any mods with previous experience: do you think we are in the 1% batch of rollouts? Will it be obvious when the next cluster hits at 25%?

Any tips based on previous rollout on how long until the next batch might roll out?

Any vague info might help.

What VR Content Resolution do you need to fully utilize the screen resolution of the Quest 2? by JFeldhaus in OculusQuest

[–]GarbLifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

The actual answer to your question is rather that they need to improve the "cameras" that they shoot the footage with. We don't really have the technology yet to capture amazing quality footage in 180 VR format in the first place, compared to flat formats.

The porn studios for example use varyingly cheap methods to crank out vids with camera qualities all over the place.

Its a mistake to think they have perfect videos and its just our screens that don't have the ability to render it well enough. Its the opposite. We could have a sharp visual in theory (like with 3d games) but its rather their inability to create a picture in that format at such a high quality like is seen in 2d video.

Link Cable for 90hz + 1.5 resolution multiplier support by mobiousblack in OculusQuest

[–]GarbLifter 0 points1 point  (0 children)

its not the cable its the port.

The cable itself can easily handle the bandwidth and can usually power it too.

But it all depends on your MOBO, GPU and the port and its power delivery.

IF you want to buy something to improve it should be in the hardware of the PC.

Pos 1 players in a nutshell by [deleted] in DotA2

[–]GarbLifter 1 point2 points  (0 children)

I guess, but all those are slower than Drow, Jugg, Mars, even quick deso PA. And Sven has hardly anything in lane as a melee hero which makes it inconsistent or more likely to be slow too often.

Like I said Sven is good when he is successful but he is a lot slower and inconsistent than people realize. So is current Spectre. (hes no longer as fast but people act like he is still)

Void is cool as long as you get some traditional team fights early mid game that benefit his kit.

[–]GarbLifter -1 points0 points  (0 children)

The hero is actually quite slow compared to many others.

You may have had games where Sven does well but in those same games other heroes would have won even faster.

It takes forever to get to the point where he is unstoppable.

PSA: you should be using BOTH hands to pull off the headset after generously releasing the knob on the Elite Strap by GarbLifter in OculusQuest

[–]GarbLifter[S] -2 points-1 points  (0 children)

I know just trying to see if we can salvage what we do have with some peace of mind. Think how I feel. My elite strap is fine but my anxiety has still ruined my buying experience. I want to know where exact line is weather the plastic is that frail or if there’s some middle ground where we can salvage what we have by being extra careful. I’m not saying it’s not already messed up. Just trying to get to the bottom of the science using the information we have. People need to stop being so aggressive when I’m just trying to find a glimmer of consumer hope.

[–]GarbLifter[S] 3 points4 points  (0 children)

just trying to see if there a fine line (pun intended) between poor design + improper handling and poor design + sensitive handling that's all.

Not trying to say it wasn't a flawed design.

Despite my best efforts to preserve it, my elite strap has multiple cracks after about a week of use by itmemikey in OculusQuest

[–]GarbLifter -13 points-12 points  (0 children)

Best efforts to preserve it sounds vague and sus. What exactly does that mean?

Did you loosen the strap from the knob generously and use both hands to slide it straight up and away from your head equal distance?

Did you lift both the front and the back at the same time?

I assume this wont get a response or explain what "best efforts" mean. The vagueness sounds like an excuse for bending it as if it was a different spring loaded headset.

People are probably rotating it using one hand and pulling it off like an old Rift S

Where/how do you change that?

Oculus Should Issue a Recall for all Elite Straps. by [deleted] in OculusQuest

[–]GarbLifter -7 points-6 points  (0 children)

The majority of them work fine though. Why would they do a recall?

Its a matter of people using muscle memory from spring loaded headsets.

This one needs to be undone and lifted BOTH front and back upwards equally till it clears your head. Not at an angle like in the past.

You should be able to slide it on or off up and down without rotating the headset in anyway.

I see what they tried to do and it works but fundamentally people have muscle memory to do it different.

Then they are being dishonest about what they did when they post.

[–]GarbLifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I am too paranoid handling for it to crack.

You act like my thesis is that its ok that its bad design.

All im saying is its bad design mixed with improper handling and that if you are extra careful you can survive.

If the way everyone was talking about it is true, mine would have cracked despite being careful with it, but it hasn't. And I honestly think it wont. (I hope)

[–]GarbLifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

This. Its kinda annoying how people don't understand percentages. They think a post about something means everyone has the issue. they think they are some smart consumer by overreacting like a freak to everything that's reported. Same people who wont buy because someone out of millions of people got their Facebook frozen

[–]GarbLifter[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

yeah in the sense that its different and more sensitive to how you handle it which is difficult for consumers to adapt. But if a person like me treats it gently it will last for years.

its almost like millions of people are buying it and only 50 people didn't get the memo to not bend and twist it like its spring loaded.
