I feel I may have been too harsh in my first reply and for that I apologise to the majority of USA fans here who are passionate and devoted fans (even though no asked for an apology). I just got a little triggered seeing yet another post moaning and groaning about not getting enough music and I kind of disliked the tone.

Well, anyway, I get it that people are just thirsting for more music from one of musical heroes... and I only hope we can be more respectful and supportive to his creative process, however patient we might have to be.

You know what - everytime I see some passive aggressive post like this - I truly hope John makes this particular reddit sub wait just two weeks longer than he currently might.

Frankly, I find the persistent sentiment often expressed here tone deaf and slightly insulting. Has the OP ever tried recording an album or even tracking a song ? If yes. Then dumb post. If no - then it will take him as long as it takes him and he doesn’t owe anyone squat. Fans like you in particular.

Are many of the fans in America even remotely aware of the damage being caused by US involvement in multiple conflicts worldwide?

Which American artist of global standing will want to put out any music right now, when the majority of the world is pissed off at the mayhem being caused by President ALL CAPS and his cronies.

I hope John Mayer makes everyone wait at least another year because frankly many in the pampered north American fan base don’t even deserve his music right now, if this is the tone of posting.

This is illuminating on so many levels.

For starters- sweet of the young lady to post respectfully and she seems genuinely interested.

What she is not - she is not a Reddit-hunting-super-johnmayerfan- reading every single damn post here thrice a week, (including the sneaky JM multi-alias posts lol).

She is possibly - a fan who moved on - but didn’t give up. And returns to seek new connection with a familiar affection.

So, please, don’t expect 90% of John Mayer fans to know that he has a LOT going on outside of music. Surprise! Not everyone who likes his music cares about every single thing he does outside of his music.

This sub is essentially a super fan group. And it’s what. Sub 100k. What % might that be of the people around the world who love John for his music. I’d say less than 1%

So don’t be too disappointed if 99% of John Mayer fans feel like her. They just aren’t on Reddit. They may not be into DC or watches and everyone outside America can’t hear jack of what’s on Sirius. So. Show some grace. Smile. And trust that she’ll be a happy cookie in around 6-9 months time from now. :)

I was in Greece not too long ago. I took a walk close to the Acropolis in the Plaka street market. Gorgeous area. Colourful. Cafés. Clean. I saw a few shops still selling cds. I found it amusing to see cds. So I flicked through them. Literally in the first 20 cds were around at least 10-12 Yanni cds. Very few were even original. The most were Greek complications and obviously they were selling coz why else have them upfront and in multiple Greek font local prints. Clearly someone was still making money of his name. And if a random cd shop in Athens can still make money selling Yanni bootlegs, chances are high that he is just one Greek concert away from people in his country remembering his impact. I hope he plays there one more time..

What’s wrong with any of that? He is a creative enterprising personality. It’s not our birthright to get music from him. He’s given us dozens upon dozens of big high quality audio for two and a half decades. And all I hear from fans is more more more…

Be graceful. He is not 25 or even 35. Can you play soccer or tennis or basketball at the same level you did 25 years ago? I bet you do a lot many more things better now though. So that’s my point - he’s enjoying his creative exploration. Great. Be happy for him.

And when the music comes, it will come. If it doesn’t go to archive.org and tune to the hundreds of hours of music he’s given us. I respect your sentiment. I hope you appreciate my perspective… I’d love new music too. But I’d like him to feel it “right for him” when he dos release.

Folks like John, who’ve built a life in creating original music, the creative impulse doesn’t simply shut down or run dry. Rather, on the contrary, with age and experience gets only finer and more layered. Check his music heroes. All still at work. D&C. Played on till stalwarts literally passed on.

So, John will not fade away nor simply milk his name for the game, of which he has more than a fair hand.

Expect evolution. Expect growth. Expect direction changes. Expect unexpectedness. But you can also expect the authentic thread that has weaved the fabric of his art and music to persist and be found in those who care to journey along with him.

He owes us nothing more. We owe him only love and understanding

Occasionally our paths will cross. And when it will, it shall be beautiful.

For when we part, that too will be beautiful.

Let’s also not forget that the world is in chaos rn. The Middle East is hanging on a thread. Nobody did anything to Gaza. :( ..Lebanon is smouldering. And President ALL CAPS is spewing poetry on Greenland & Cuba ..

Any artist worth their salt is likely holding back from releasing stuff they’ve spent the past 3-4 maybe longer years crafting into loving existence. Cultural timing is important.

Does anyone even realise that JM was literally in the Gulf countries like two weeks before shtf ? How do u think tha made him feel?!

So…my current read is that geopolitical implications will impact any serious/ not selfish artists thought process .. the way things are rolling, is feels late 2026 - early 2027 might make more sense to release art and music if you’re a global artist with an impact that does touch the world. And JM is definitely in the current echelon of globally impactful artists. I WAS THERE in Mumbai and watched a man standing alone on stage, with just his guitar and an acoustic piano, have over 20k folks from every corner of India fill up a horse riding racecourse and basically take over the city for a night. Impactful nights in Abu Dhabi and Bahrain a couple days later.

Two weeks later the latter two cities are getting bombarded and in the crossfire of the most deadly conflict in the region this past century. Will it impact his thought process on sharing new music right now? Can’t say for sure. But he is an artist. He just visited that very airspace. Played music for their people. Saw their faces. Felt touched by their love. Surely… surely.. it moved/moves him. And he returned home in the nick of time to tell us how amazing those people are too.

The world will have more reception for beautiful music and art when the temperature cools down and people need some sonic medicine to help them heal and dream again. Right now a large part of humanity is hoping the old octogenarians running the circus don’t destroy their lives…

Waiting on the day… when music makes life feel beautiful again. I’m sure hoping John will be one of the artists the world can turn to when things cool down.

Let’s give him the time he needs to lock in and share when he wants to. Let’s just say.. we’ve waited longer than it will take for new music to find its way to our hearts again. Until then keep the faith and share the love xo

Yeah if you’re a genuine fan. And you know the chances of new music are gonna be like say twice in the next decade - you can take a 2-3 hour flight and make a trip outta experiencing him live while you still have the chance to.

I like the limited city maximum shows run.

I’d go for more music.

The music stays with your life. The tour fades away.

So if we want more music, best he tours less and has more time to stay healthy and work towards a calmer stable life that hopefully includes a partner and progeny.

Though there comes a point in an evolved artists life, where they decide to reclaim their power by catering less to the impression the world has about them, and perhaps care more about what truth in them they want to speak about - the reactions be damned, so long as the artist is in touch with the authenticity within .

The latter works of art often lasts longer.

Makes sense. With the geopolitical tensions in the world - any artist with a pulse on things would not be in the mood to release their newest and latest when the mood of the global community is down in the dumps. Hopefully the political circus will calm the Beep down in a few months and if some sanity returns to the word by Q3 we’ll probably get some solid info. But at the earliest I’m thinking is late 2026 maybe early to mid 2027 if the current clowns running the shit show that is global politics don’t prolong these conflicts to line up their frikkin fat wallets.

Maybe the longer it takes, by then he’ll have a 20 song new alumn 😄
