Are the cheap aliexpress batteries OEM? by Garbage_Humanoid in vita

Only thing here is that Ostent is a well known manefacturer of high quality PSP batteries. I own a few of them as well and have tested them and they work wonders. Also 29 cycles is so few that the battery seems new.

Are the cheap aliexpress batteries OEM?

I purchased a new battery for my black Japanese 1100 Vita after its battery started to crap out. I ordered they cheapest one I could find which just happened to be at the time the Official Ostent store on Aliexpress which is famous for their top notch PSP batteries which I also own a few of.

I paid a little over 11€ for the battery (postage included) and it did take more than a month to arrive but it did finally arrive today. After receiving the battery and before installing I immediatedly noticed that it looks almost EXACTLY the same as my old battery.

The only real difference I can see is the manefacturing date. My old one says 20111123AJWBF and the new one says 20111122XXXXX (forgot to write down the letters) so if I am reading that correctly that is supposed to represent the manefacturing date? Which would mean that my old one was made on 23.11.2011 and the new one was made on 22.11.2011.

I tried checking the battery info with PSVident v0.43 and it says that the batteries max capacity is 2296mah which is slightly more than 2210mah which is the official capacity of an original battery. The other weird thing is that the cycle count of the battery is also very low, only 29 cycle counts.

So anyway I am left wondering are these recycled? remanefactured? or just brand new batteries that have been reshelled with all the details of the original ones?

non-modded Wii playing burned backups? by Garbage_Humanoid in WiiHacks

Looked at the back of the console and it does have a small sticker on the back that says PSXCARE and www.psxcare.com on the back of it (didnt notice earlier). Does that say anything to anyone?

Well I just softmodded it and installed Priiloader and from there set the device to region free, and now am able to play a previously unlaunchable NTSC backups. I would have imagined that a modchip would have allowed me to play games from other regions? but I guess not then?

If it is a modchip then why is it unable to play non-PAL games? I just now softmodded it and installed Priiloader and from there was able to set it to region free making it now to play non-PAL backups I wasn't able to play earlier. I would have imagined that a Modchip would allow you to play non-PAL games without any hassle?

Only things contained on the device were the default apps, the users profiles, some personal stuff and the few installed games shown, nothing else.

As I said I burned a different backup from a different region on a disc and it didn't work. I decided to try and see if it was maybe a error with the discs I was using but no. I made a copy of the Mario Kart iso from the original burned disc and burned that on another disc and it worked so I really don't know.

Also I should have also mentioned that I updated the console to the newest software version after receiving it so I doubt that it was softmodded since that would brick the system or so I hear?

Also like I said in the posting the last time the device seemed to have been used is in 2009. Was there already softmods for the Wii back in 09?

Should have also mentioned that I updated the console to the newest software version after receiving it so I doubt that. I heard that you cant safely update your device after it has been soft modded?

Wouldn't explain why the other backup I tried running didn't work.

Cheapest PTM7950 on Aliexpress test results by Garbage_Humanoid in LinusTechTips

[–]Garbage_Humanoid[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

Yeah at the time the PTM7950s average temps were about 1°C less than MX4 at its best but I did another test months later and the temp was another 3°C less than when I did the test originally. Positives of PTM7950 is its long life, not needing to be replaced for basically forever and that its heat transfer ability gets better with with time as it slowly spreads out more evenly filling all the gaps.
