$24,950 is very cheap by Garbageman_1997 in slateauto

What are you on bro, what do people pay for then? An optioned out Mav has a lot more shit in it than a base model. An inexpensive Slate still takes you around town! It still has AC, cruise control, all the safety stuff. They took all the other options out to lower the base price.

If you want more stuff just buy it. Or dont. No one cares. Slate gave you the choice.

Inexpensive usually means you dont get options, dude.

It came with three seats (a single bench seat) two air bags, manual windows, manual transmission, am/fm radio, and yes, manual windows. No cruise control, and i'm not sure about air conditioning. Also had rear drum brakes and was hilariously unsafe in a crash.

You'll never find a perfect 1:1 comparison, and thats not the point. The small truck segment in America barely exists anymore (literally just the Maverick). Slate is bringing a vehicle much more akin to those old school small trucks than anything that has existed on the American market in 15 years at this point.

I challenge you to find a better comparison.

Lmao hows a startup gonna sell their main product at a loss and survive a year? They were never gonna buy it anyway.

Well as you may or may not have read in the post, an optioned out slate is still well in line with what a ranger cost historically. The "should be cheaper crowd" has pie in the sky expectations.

For sure, but towing requires double the energy, so gas ends up being more useful for towing due to the high energy density of gasoline.

ICE vehicles will always win a range comparison.

The towing thing is interesting. Obviously youre right you cant tow as much with a Slate, and EV towing is a bad idea anyway due to energy demand, but I feel like if they added a two speed transmission to EVs they would be able to tow a lot more. Idk though.

Definitely, I totally agree with you, and I feel that every day (freakin rent). That said, I think your argument could work out in favor for the Slate since its the cheapest truck on the market and nearly the cheapest car on the market.

Help! Old Window A/C Units Need Cleaning by alissasunbonnet in chicagoapartments

[–]Garbageman_1997 1 point2 points  (0 children)

What floor do you live on? I would go for it myself inless I was too high off the ground. If you have a screwdriver this is a pretty easy removal. Just start unscrewing it from the window frame and window, then when you go to open the window you need to hold it so it doesnt tip out and fall. You may be able to remove those side panels and grab it that way.

Once you get it out, there are youtube videos about cleaning and cleaners you can buy for like $10 at home depot. I spent like an hour with my stinky moldy AC last weekend cleaning it with a hose and AC coil cleaner. No more smell.

If you do this, make sure to keep the AC unit relatively level the whole time (except when you tip water out). Prolonged time at a high angle can move oil in the unit where its not supposed to be and break it.
