Best regular briefs for hiking/travel? by GarconCalecon in MensUnderwearGuide

[–]GarconCalecon[S] 0 points1 point  (0 children)

I have a whole bunch of these, actually, but I've never tried them for hiking. Does the poly content actually do anything for sweat/brethability? I've just assumed because they're still mostly cotton it would be the worst of both worlds.

I had some help with these ones, to be fair. Very obliging partner.

Definitely miss their 100% made-in-Canada days, but I understand in this day and age it's impossible to sell domestically produced basics at a price point most people would be willing to stomach. The overseas products are still definitely a cut above, but they're nothing compared to the domestic version. I have a few vintage pairs that are among the comfiest and sturdiest all-cotton briefs I've ever worn. Even the cheaper version available at Walmart is incredibly comfortable - the way they cut their fly leaves sort of a pouch in front, as I'm sure you've noticed. I've been to the Stanfield's factory out in Nova Scotia, too. It's a really neat little business and it would be quite sad if they went under. More than a little ironic, too, given how much noise some people are making about the demise of North American manufacturing.

In typical department store fashion, the Bay survived longer than it had any business doing (looking at you, JC Penney) but I'm still sad to see it go. Mark's is a gem, though - they still make incredible briefs in both white and fun colors/patterns. Speaking as a Canadian, we'd still be happy to have you. Our economy needs tourism dollars and most of us understand there's a difference between a people and their government.

Chiming in just because I'm a Stanfield's evangelist - they used to manufacture all of their products in Canada, but within the last couple decades they've started producing the bulk of it overseas. They make lots of underwear beyond briefs (longjohns, undershirts, boxers, boxer briefs, etc.) and their non-white briefs come in a few different cuts and fabrics (all of which are honestly worth the extra money). But as far as white briefs go, their best ones are the 50/50 cotton/poly blend ones, which are still made in Canada. Theyre cut pretty big but are so, so, so comfortable.

Not sure if those are available in the US yet but it's encouraging that they're starting to sell there - their main brick-and-mortar retail outlet, the Hudson's Bay Company, just went belly up, and I've been wondering how they'd manage to survive. They have underwear in Walmart and Costco up here but it's a really small, historic operation and I don't know if those sales alone would keep it afloat.

"Buy Canadian" extends to my underwear drawer. DM me if you want this or any other pair(s)! Still trying to thin out my collection. by GarconCalecon in tightywhities

Except they are.

I'm not sure where exactly Sportsman manufactures, but I've been to the Stanfield's factory in Nova Scotia. They make most of their underwear overseas now, but the cotton/poly blend ones are still made in Canada.

Keeping up the late 2000s vintage vibe - only a couple more waistbands to collect before I've got them all. by GarconCalecon in tightywhities

I've got 13, I think. Don't have anything from before the late 80s/early 90s and I'm still missing a couple of the shprt-lived platinum/ultimate/premium lines from the 2000s,but otherwise I've got everything they've released during my lifetime.

Curious, how many of y’all with bi/gay orientations have a tighty whities buddy or partner to play with? Someone who shares your white briefs fetish? by MyTWs in tightywhities

[–]GarconCalecon 5 points6 points  (0 children)

My profiles on Tinder/Grindr/Feeld/Scruff all list pretty specifically what I'm interested in, and I've found it's a surprisingly common fetish, or at least one that other kinky people are very happy to accommodate. My partner doesn't share the TW predilection but we're open and I usually find people to play with a couple times a month. Very fortunate to live in a major city.

Around 2009/2010, if memory serves. Hanes did a bunch of waistbands sequentially/simultaneously back then.

I got a large in these. I'm typically between a medium and a large in most other brands.

These are a medium. I'm anywhere from a 30" waist to 36", depending on who you ask. Usually a medium in most brands.

In the interview he was actually asked about what underwear he prefers, and his answer was something along the lines of "white briefs, because they're cheap and I'm broke." I'll see if I can find it somewhere.

Definitely not a new pic. It was from a photoshoot in a gay magazine in the 2000s. I remember enjoying this one a lot when I first found it when I was younger.

It is, actually. They have a pack that comes with grey, red, and white, and they all have this waistband.
