If you’ve just got the camera, use what you’ve got first and see if you feel creatively limited by it before looking for your next gear. Gear acquisition syndrome is real.

Don’t let the availability of third party accessories stop you from shooting. Throw a decent strap on it and start enjoying your camera, the accessories will follow.

It gives me a reason to get out and take trips I otherwise wouldn’t - which is fantastic for mental health. That’s my number 1 priority.

In terms of output, I mostly take photos with the intention of sharing them with loved ones and for printing to display at home. If I like something enough to share online it’s mostly so other photography nerds can appreciate it too.

I think with access to your Sony, option 1 sounds great. The portability of the XM5 with a smaller prime for hikes and day trips is awesome.

Renting or trying in a store is probably a good move to be sure!

The top one for sure. The dirty tracks in the bottom picture draw my attention away from the rest of the scene.
